And another build of Windows Mobile 6.5 ...

Oh, why not. While Malatesta and I might have bemoaned in this week's podcast the number of Windows Mobile 6.5 builds floating around in the wild — and remember that we're not really expecting any of these to be among the first updates — that doesn't mean they're not fun to look at.

And so we bring you Windows Mobile 6.5 Build 23036 [RedmondPie via XDA], just a couple of steps up from the the last one we saw. The Start menu and other buttons are still on the bottom but are looking more and more refined. But the bigger change is in the onscreen keyboard. We haven't used it yet, but at first glance we're a little worried about the size of the keys. (And note that Build 23037 is out, too, with some bugfixes.)

More pics after the break.

That's an old keyboard that was posted on XDA years ago. I think it is just what that Chef decide to put in his rom. If you are a stylus user it isn't too bad, and still leaves a lot of screen real estate visible (as opposed to the touch friendly keyboards, they will take up 80% of the keyboard on my tilt running an WM version).

Jason

Isn't that the default keyboard for WM6.1? At least that's what I have in my i-mate Ultimate 9502 running a native ROM.

The original keyboard was eleven keys across, and this build has thirteen keys across!!! Why do they refuse to make a finger keyboard? Maybe in wm7 we will be rocking graphical beauty at speeds breaking our necks and then want to type out an email to tell everyone and this keyboard will pop up. Then in wm23 when the first star arc reaches a new home and the captain uses his/her handheld to open a micro data wormhole to tell earth they made it, and has to pule out his/her stylus to tap out the news, it will be like this keyboard, but 17 keys across. :D

Ok, serious, lets hope the keyboard on the Zune HD gets ported over to 6.5.1, or no later than 7 right.

Let's just hope the Zune gets a phone radio installed! :)

Zune Phone! Gotta happen! :)

Yeah the Zune Hd's keyboard is nice. I'm sure it'll get ported.

Quick question, ZuneHD being WinCE would it be easier to port things such as keyboard or that new web browser Cnet thought was excellent?

It's possible..

I really just want this 6.x to go away forever.
