Celio REDFLY Now Available in the WMExperts Store, Expanded Compatibility Friday

Posted on Thursday, Aug 7, 2008 by Dieter Bohn

The Celio Redfly, aka “the mobile companion” for your Windows Mobile phone, is now available for $499.95 in the WMExperts Store! Don't remember the Redfly? It has been a little while, but we did lay it out in our review:

What the Redfly does is connect to your Windows Mobile phone over USB or Bluetooth and “trick” it into believe it has a large, 800x480 screen and a near full-sized keyboard instead of a tiny 320x240 screen and a chicklet keyboard. So the Redfly itself stores no data and has no processing power, it all stays on the smartphone.

Basically, it takes your Windows Mobile phone and turns it into a NetBook, so you don't have to muck around with syncing your data since it's all on the smartphone already.

In addition to the retail availability, Celio has also let us know that they've expanded the compability list! Full list (drivers will be at http://celiocorp.com/install by Friday) after the break!

One more thing: Celio is also sponsoring a giveaway -- a free Redfly! Details are here.

  • HTC Mogul
  • AT&T Tilt
  • Verizon XV6800

Will the connection be a Internet Sharing connection, subjecting you to the 5gb data limit?
Actually, slbailey1, the internet connection will be your phone's directly -- you phone effectively *becomes* the Redfly.

...in other words, yes, it would be subject to whatever your standard limit is, but it would NOT be a phone-as-modem or tethering sort of deal.
I'm just commening because I really want a dfly, it would be perfect for school and work.
Dieter Bohn that is great news. I have the Sprint 450 Simply Everything plan!!! This may be my best solution even at the one time price of $499.

I was toying with getting a netbook(Dell). That will cost what - $500? Then add to that a data card (limited to 5gb per month) and a monthly fee of $60.

All I want to do is surf the web for work and pleasure, read ebooks, email, my calander, and contacts.
Has the driver for the Sprint Touch been released yet? Will there be a driver for the Sprint Touch Pro?

Fantastic post. Bookmarked this site and emailed it to a few friends, your post was that great, keep it up.
