Dashwire Gets Official With 2.0

Remember when we reported about Dashwire beta and raved about how great the service was. Well now it looks like their ready for their big debut. Dashwire officially launched 2.0. Engadget explains some of the great features such as synchronization between contacts, photos, and bookmarks are still available. Now you also get the share photos to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and even Friendfeed. Big ups to Scott for the tip.

I personally feel this is a must have for my fellow Windows Mobile users. Its free, it syncs seamlessly in the background, and now you can share what you sync. You can even update your status right from the Dashwire application. What more could you want? Maybe there is one more thing. I would like to be able to edit my photos through Dashwire. Till then its baby steps. You have to walk before you can run.

Really appreciate the coverage. The functionality you're refering to at the end is actually something we've talked about before. It's definitely coming to the service soon. Keep posted...

Installing it now -- Dang, it's sweet. Can't wait to try syncing it over to a fresh phone to see what get moved...

Doesn't seem to work for my Samsung i760. I "sync now" my data does a connection, but then disconnects. A sync never actually occurs. Seems cool if it would work with my phone. :(

Sorry to say ThaiBruin but your phone isn't supported by our service yet. But we're definitely planning on launching something for you in the future.

Installed last nigh...neat as hell. So far, so good. Can't wait to see if having it sync automatically is something that will take up a lot of resources. I seem to have call problems (miss calls) with programs that access the web a lot.

been using it for a couple of weeks. Love it!
Just to be clear, Dashwire, correct me if I am wrong, but this doesn't replace a standard phone backup. I mean, people should still invest in backup software for their applications, databases, etc. Correct?

You're in luck ThaiBruin because looks like the i-760 works when .NET CF 3.5 is installed on the device. We’ve had a couple other users try this fix and so far it’s worked out for them.

For the moment cadman, we don't back-up everything on the phone. We're still working on a few things like 3rd party applications. But we want to get to that point (and soon), where you don't have to invest in other back-up software. We also want to be more than just another back-up solution. And thats the direction our new Mobile Client (2.0) pushed us toward.
