Get a (fake) Touch Diamond for $99

Let's play "Guess the Device." What has the following specs:

  • Model: Diamond S900 (non-HTC/Dopod)
  • "Astonishing design"
  • 2.8-inch vibrant color LCD screen
  • Dual-band GSM 900/1800MHz
  • 300,000-pixel camera
  • Built-in FM tuner
  • 256MB memory card included

If you answered "Not an HTC Touch Diamond," give yourself a big pat on the back.

This $99 knockoff is being offered at DealExtereme. We hesitate to even give the link - and the six people who Digged the page so far should be flogged - but it's worth a look, if only for some afternoon entertainment. So here you go. You do get free shipping, though, so that's a plus.

Thanks to Windows Mobile Cool and Gear Diary for the chuckle.

That site is so pathetic. All of their phones are chinese knockoffs and pretty bad ones at that. Whats worse is that people are dumb enough to buy this junk.
For what it's worth, DealExtreme is not a bad retailer. They are prompt, reliable, and honest about what they sell (after all, they are clear in the specs that it is not an HTC device). But DealExtreme is best known for small trinkets and other novelty gadgets from Hong Kong, so potential buyers should definitely know that they aren't getting an HTC device.
Please help:
I've just bought a fake Diamond S900 with some 'dopo' name on it and a 'Dopod S900' label under the battery. I've been trying unsuccessfully to switch it on/off. Can someone tell me how to bring to life this dead device? I mean where is the power button on this device? How do you switch it on? I accidentally powered it on, but removed the battery to switch it off. And since it would not power on again. Is there a mysterious button I don't know about? The chinese seller on DHGate took me in: he posted the picture of a real HTC for 200$ bucks, but sent me a fake/phony/replica of a HTC device. So before I accept any of his proposals, I'd like to explore it a bit. The seller himself does not know how to, being just a intermediary. Some factory in China apparently produces mass fake HTC to be resold on the DHGate portal.
Please post a reply. Any commentary would be appreciated.
Thanks for your attention.
