Media News Opera Mobile 95 Tuw2 Small

Get yourself over to The Unwired to see a hands-on video with Opera Mobile 9.5, on display at MWC. Arne has scored some of the details we've been waiting for, namely:

  • Opera Mobile 9.5 will not be using a proxy server (unlike SkyFire). This is good news.
  • It should be available in late Spring
  • It's still wicked fast
  • It shares the code base with the desktop version of Opera 9
  • There will probably be a public Beta
  • They haven't decide on a price

Ah, conventions, how you make us revert to bullet points. If you're wondering, the device pictured above is the HTC Cruise.

Man, one of my colleague's is beta testing Skyfire. I've been SO jealous, but I just keep telling myself "You're already with Opera. You're already with Opera."
I have 8.65 now and have enjoyed it. Hopefully 9.5 will render pages as nicely as Skyfire. That "iphone-esque" page view, with the zoom in, is what I want.
ARGH. SkyFire send me a link to a download page -- which is blank.
They sent me a link that said "We're full. Go away."
i am testing Skyfire. it is very slow to load. 50% of the time it wont open because it doesnt connect to Skyfire server. it does play youtube and Hulu videos nicely on wifi and the audio is perfect on edge speed. Page rendering is sluggish. Finding operamini better and using this as my everyday browser until 9.5 is released.
Well, I've been using Opera 9.5 beta since it became available, and was happy until I loaded the new ROM last weekend. NOW Opera seems to hang quite often, and I get the dreaded "Memory full. Please close a tab" error a LOT.
