How-To: Full YouTube on Windows Mobile

WMExperts Forum Member / hero zbop has done the impossible incredible: Written instructions for getting the full version of YouTube working on Windows Mobile without needing a PhD in Computer Science. That's not m.youtube.com, (which only features whatever videos YouTube has bothered to encode for that site), but the full YouTube. It's not quite plug 'n play, but it's darn close. If you follow zbop's instructions to a Tee you should be able to manage it. They're a lot easier than the earlier mentioned hack.

  • If you already have a version of TCPMP installed, uninstall it now.
  • Install tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72RC1.cab: link here
  • Install FlashVideoBundle.CAB attached [in the linked forum post below] (this MUST be installed in the same location as TCPMP)
  • Soft-reset

You'll also want to read through the whole thread (linked below) for some tips and tricks for configuring TCPMP to get everything running smoothly and quickly (see especially Malatesta's post). On devices with slow processors, you may want to look into those acceleration tips. I'm here to tell you, though, on a lowly Treo750 with lowly EDGE, it works without too many config futzing.

If you follow the instructions exactly and use the preconfigured TCPMP settings, you should be able to play videos smoothly if your network connection is adequate.

(Note, you'll need to register in order to be able to download the flash bundle .cab. As long as you are, you might as well use the contest box on the right of this page - might win yourself 25 bucks at our store. ;) )

Also works on Smartphone Edition. Looks like I'm going to have to switch back away from my WM6-Hacked Treo 750, since there's no 3G where I live. WiFi + full YouTube == Bliss.

I think I must be the only one on the planet that doesn't find YouTube interesting. For my HSDPA goodness, I'll stick to my SlingBox. :)

I tried to install the tcpmp.pocketpc.0.72rc1.cab in my HTC s621 AKA dash, and it dispayed a message saying that it doesn´t support that version. Anybody had the same problem?

Incredible. Can't believe I didn't seek this out sooner. Thanks so much for the effort - It works flawlessly on my 8125 PPC with WM6 ROM upgrade.

The application interface is nice to with the easy full screen/landscape/portrait switcher.

I am so happy now (it doesn't take much). Now if I could just a good free database application

With all due respect - wanted to talk about another solution which is talked about a lot - Avot mV - lots has been written about it. It plays entire YouTube, Google videos and content from all UGC site.. I love it - try it out http://avotmv.com

Just wanted to say thanks guy's ive been looking every where for a plugin or something to get around this youtube problem and now i have found the key to make it all work.. thanks to guys like you for helping people like us to bring us the toolz we need so we can enjoy are lunce hr at work ... thanks guys.

i downloaded this app with hopes it would sovle my YouTube viewing issue's and after i installed the program the video came out so choppy i couldnt barely view the vid.. sorry but dont think this is the way the go... i am looking forward to trying your solution to this problem, it has been one of main disapiontments with the HTC i purchased.

I looked up the solution for my YOUTUBE SWF ARGS not found. I needed a new version of the flash video bundle: FlashVideoBundle1.4.4, which I found here, at PC Geeks.com

I have a 700wx from sprint. i went through the instructions fine but when it came time to watch a video, youtube said my device dosnt support java script & I need to download adobe flash 7. but I can't download the flash player from adobe on my phone. does anyone know how to get around this problem with the java script?

wha's up ladies and gents..... i have had the tcpmp and flash bundle for a while now. it has been working gr8 for me ont my WING.... i recently removed the old and installed the tcpmp 072rc1 and flashbundle 1.4.4....everything was ok until 4 days ago....now when i open youtube...the homepage is fine all images show up but when i search any video, the search page only loads half of the images on the page and when trying to play or (stream), some of the videos give me an error msg (could not find url) but saving the video to my storage card is no problem. mainly my concern is why the page won't load all the images. i have plenty of storage on my device cause i removed all unwanted programs, all other sites load all images. tcpmp and flashbundle are on my storage card and everything works fine as far as that. is youtube doing something that we don't know about or what. i've done removal and reinstalls and soft resets and still the same. help me out here somebody. email me (godson66@hotmail.com)

i have the all black dash and i have a few questions?

a) how can i watch youtube videos?

b)i cant send picture messages it goes to outbox and has a clock symbol. what is wrong?

c)i installed flash lite 2.0. is that the most recent for my mode or is there a higher version i should install?
