LG Incite SMS Failing

A confession about the LG Incite: we have one at WME HQ, but can't bring ourselves to give it a closer look or a review because it's just so... meh to us. This is not an opinion shared by all of our readers, however, as we've had some interaction with a few (Hi Chris, Joe!) who are pretty happy with theirs.

So as a service to you, the lonely LG Incite owner, we are telling you that you are not alone and that the SMS bug you're encountering is not your fault. From inside AT&T:

Customers who have purchased the LG CT810 (Incite) have had errors when attempting to send a SMS message in some locations. Customers with this issue have seen the following message “Your text message can not be sent” and the message is not sent. LG is correcting a setting in the device to correct this issue.

We don't like to hear such things about any WM device, much less one that might actually be a sleeper hit for AT&T since it's fairly inexpensive and there's no official Diamond on the network to compete with it. Here's to hoping LG gets the fix out soon. In the meantime -- anybody run into this on the Incite or other devices? Perhaps there's a RegEdit that could help?

I guess my question is whether this really is an LG problem. I have a Treo Pro on AT&T. Until today, I've never had an issue with SMS on any of my phones. But I got that very same error on one message, less than an hour before reading this entry. That makes me think that the LG may be more susceptible to the problem, but the issue may be with AT&T.

I spoke with AT&T customer service about this - asking if there is a fix. They mentioned that new Incites are shipping to the stores on Dec 23 and will have the fix. The box will have a "blue dot on the side." I want to try one out in a store with my SIM to make sure it works.

I believe this is a Incite-specific issue. This same problem can happen with other phones, but they can also be fixed since numerous causes exist. In the case of the Incite, it sounds like the cause is a hardware problem.

The next big question: Will it be a product recall?

its a software issue with the incite you have to be on a 3g network (which is sadly not avaliable in all areas) to send messages im on my second one and taking it back as soon as i finish this. ty for the info on the blue dot my next one will have it.

i have an incite with a blue dot an i wrk for at&t mine sumtimes dnt send txts an my music i buy from att wont play it says its corrupted. its a piece

I just bought an Incite and it has the blue dot. I cannot send sms messages. I have downloaded the update and still nothing. What do I do?
