Just a quick heads up. Microsoft fixed the problem with the Live Mesh mobile client overnight.

You'll have to download a new build of the application, which you can get at m.mesh.com/install/wm6/LiveMesh.cab from a mobile or desktop browser.

We'll have more on the mobile client and the entire Live Mesh system soon. And then we'll quit writing about it for a few days. Promise.

Well, I have fallen to that which is the large amount of people that beat me to the punch. I loaded the new Live Mesh software onto my phone, only to encounter the "Live Mesh for windows mobile client is only available to a limited number of users. You are currently not allowed to add your mobile phone to live mesh" message.

Ugh... but I wanted it so badly.
Oy! Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they'll open it up soon.
They'll expand it out soon enough, Propofokgov. It still doesn't have that "super rock solid" feel to it that the desktop version has, so no worries. Example: I have to start the program twice on first run and putting it in the startup folder just isn't happening with this version. None the less, it is pretty sweet once it gets going! This is really going to make people want a faster network connection like WiMax!
:( not really what i hoped for..... the app seems to work only a link PIE for receiving/downloading files. but it does sync you mobile pics to your desktop.
I would like to see a full feature app with need to use ie.
It's not browser-based. It just kicks to the browser if the folder hasn't yet been synced to the phone.
awwww thanks i'll try to sync it again.
Phil that sucks and defeats the whole purpose of live mesh to me; I want to have files avavible to me without storing them on my physical device.
I’m saying the app should work as the “window” or “gateway” without entering into PIE. The client should be able to view and download within the same app. don't you think so
Well, I had folders already defined (PDA-CAB and PDA-BACKUP) -- now I'll direct sprite scheduled backups to the live mesh folder on the storage card, and, hopefully, POOF, off-site, automated backups (zero touch!!!)

Trying it right now. Maybe a perfect mash up :-)
The file are available without storing them on your device. I'd think of the Mesh as a carbon copy that lives in conjunction with what's actually on your desktop or on your phone.

And any file can be accessed via the Live Desktop, or from your phone at m.mesh.com.

It works! Create a new mobile mesh folder using the sprite backup, let live mesh copy it to the mesh folder. Whee.
