A lot of us are torn when it comes to all these new touch devices. Some have buttons, some have haptic vibrations, and others are just a sleek screen. This could make it very frustrating when picking the right device. To haptic or not to haptic that is the question. (In a Shakespeare voice).
Nokia wants to make it so that you don’t have to choose. Nokia plans to launch new tactile feedback that allows graphical buttons to feel real!.
Now every time you touch your device, small protuberances will rise on that part of the screen that you touched. This happens because the current from your finger will raise the protuberances and will become flush again when you finger is released. I’m imagining a gentile sandpaper like area only on the button you touch.
In my opinion this is a great advancement for touch screen devices. So many people have been frustrated with the poor vibrating haptic we have now. Nokia realized this and made a change that could make these devices easier to use.
