Last week WMExperts shared the story that Roger Smith, AT&T’s Director of Next Generation Services and Product Realization, made the statement that AT&T was considering standardizing a single operating system for AT&T branded smartphones.

We are now learning through our friends at InfoSync World that this statement might have been a little premature. AT&T has now confirmed/updated its position that it has no plans on standardizing one platform for its smartphones. Instead, there will be innovative devices, application, operating systems and interfaces from a range of companies in the future.

So there is joy in Mudville this morning knowing that AT&T isn’t dropping Windows Mobile, the iPhone, and Blackberry devices in the near future. The revised position now raises the question, “what innovative devices are on the drawing table?”
