HTC Diamond and Raphael Leaked

HTC Raphael

How do you improve upon a grainy, leaked spy shot of upcoming HTC Devices? Why, with a grainy, leaked spy shot of a document detailing the specs of said devices! Just such a document made its way to Engadget Mobile, who also kindly provides a gallery. Here's what we've got coming down the pike from HTC:

  1. Diamond. This replaces the Touch and looks to be available on Sprint. It's new, squarish look is pretty nice and it continues the trend of eschewing physical buttons for on-screen interaction. Expect WiFi, Bluetooth, EVDO (Rev A?), and a 3mp camera. More details -- we lack them. Expected in November.
  2. Raphael. This looks like a great device, replacing the Mogul on Sprint again. WiFi, GPS, EVDO, 3mp camera. It's also nice to see that HTC has found a design look they like and are going to keep it across multiple devices. Expected in September.

Perhaps the best news about both devices, though, is that they're going to sport VGA displays! These certainly qualify for HTC's claim that “Something Beautiful is Coming,” though we'll admit we'd be very surprised to see such CDMA goodness announced at their May 6th London event. We also don't think HTC is going to talk up Android then, either -- so it's a good bet that there's still more up HTC's sleeve for us this year.

The big deal about Raphael and diamond is that they'll feature the much-anticipated hardware acceleration with the A revision to the Qualcomm 7500 chipset.

Looked at the earlier spy shot of new HTC phones again and realized that the phones on the bottom row could be the replacements for the phones on the top row.

While VGA would be a vast improvement over the current crop of QVGA offerings, EVGA would be better still for devices intended for multimedia play back.

Do you mean WVGA?

Wow....does that Rafael look extremely thin or what? :)

However, that svelte look is somewhat tainted by that crappy looking keyboard.

That keyboard looks a bit like the HTC Universal keyboard, and if its anything as good it will be a great device.

At least the Advantage has distinct and separate keys. From the pic above it looks like each key is a raised piece of plastic (or whatever it is).

They keys on the Tilt and the Universal are not distinct either, but still work pretty well. We'll have to wait and see.

I'd like to see where the A-version means that...as far as I can tell the only difference is that the 7500a is manufactured on a 65nm process as opposed to the 7500's 90nm process. By acceleration do you mean higher clock speeds? The smaller process does mean it'll run cooler so maybe they can clock it at 500-600mhz now.
