The Xperia X1 officially has some serious competition from HTC if this Translation of newsMobile [via Engadget] is accurate. Sure as heck looks to be accurate, as these images and specs confirm the Specs for the HTC Diamond and HTC Touch Pro we told you about last weekend. In case you forgot:

  • Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
  • Qualcomm MSM 7201A @ 528MHz
  • 256MB ROM / 128MB RAM
  • 7.2MB HSDPA / HSUPA (rev A EVDO for Sprint versions)
  • 2.8“ VGA screen
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR
  • eGPS
  • 3.1MP Camera with flash
  • Forward facing camera
  • 4GB internal flash storage (Diamond only) - Samsung MoviNAND
  • TV out (Raphael only)
  • Orientation sensor (a-la-iPhone)
  • FM Radio
  • microSD expansion
  • 900mAh battery (!!!)
  • Diamond: 51x99x10.7mm with sliding keyboard
  • Raphael (Touch Pro): 51x99x17mm

We'll find out for sure on Monday whether or not this is what HTC has up their sleeve. Even folks who aren't fans of slider devices need to stand up and take note: it doesn't get much better than this.

I get they are mixing up the specs of the Raphael and the Diamond.

Surur

How Hard is it for HTC to make a real iPhone competitor with at least similar specs. Yes it has a higher resolution, but be honest do you really want to be browsing on a 2.8'' screen???

Why is it that every time a WM device drops the specs are only incrementally better than the previous generation devices.

My requests are simple, i want a device with the iphones dimensions, a slide out keyboard running windows mobile.

so 3.5'' diagonal screen, 620mhz processor, 512 mb ram, 4gb internal memory standard.

Then we can talk about incredible.

I totally agree with drtigerlilly. HTC just isn't getting it, 2.8" is so yesterday. We still need a real audio jack so we don't need a silly adapter when using decent earphones for audio playback. Also, what are the ramifications of a 900mA battery for extended video playback or GPS use?

HTC is like an expert marksman with a rifle with a sight that's slightly off; they keep missing the bullseye in a completely predictable and consistent way. What will it take to convince HTC that somethings amiss?

Dieter: note: it doesn't get much better than this. Sorry Dieter, yes it does...
