CES may start tomorrow in Las Vegas, but there's big news from Europe coming out from BGR. They've scored a Vodafone product roadmap. As was predicted (accurately, by yours truly) over at TreoCentral, Palm is going to be replacing their Treo 750 in July of 2008. We don't have a full picture yet, but we do have some specs:

 • Quad-band GSM
 • Windows Mobile 6.1 (Pro? We assume)
 • 320x320 Flush (!) screen (gotta be touch? We assume!)
 • 2mp camera
 • 1500 mAh battery (huge!)
 • GPS, WiFi (!), Bluetooth 2.0

Basically is the GSM Windows Mobile Treo we've all dreamt of. It also seems to be a continuation of Palm's love affair with Vodafone - they got the Treo 750 first, the Treo 500v first (and probably exlusively), and come July (or thereabouts), they'll get the Treo XXX/Drucker first. Our money is on it being called the Treo 850v.

Thanks to Chad for the tip!

p.s. We'd like to think that “Drucker” is named after TreoCentral's own “Michael Ducker,” but we wouldn't want Miradu to get too big a head, now would we?

WOW! check out these specs! Looks like Palm has a GRAND SLAM on its hands if the leaked slides are indeed correct. 320x320 FLUSH screen, GPS, Quadband GSM/Triband HSDPA, WM6.1 are the things I'm excited about.
that's a nice looking phone... how about some Palm OS on that sucker now!

I wonder how a flush touch screen will work? must be a new technology Palm is using seeing how every other Palm before uses a pressure sensing screen.

Just like on the HTC Touch and Samsung 1780.

July is a very long time from now.

Depends if Samsung will ship the i780 with WM6 or 6.1, and if the HP 910c was delayed to get WM 6.1. I think they are both meant to drop before July.

Samsung is worthless without US frequencies, the HP 910c is an option of course, but given the multiple delays, I'm not counting on it.

What a shame about that i780 not being US optimized.

HP.....zzzzzzzzz!

As the the new Treo, hopefully it will be a slimmer and more svelte version of the current 750.
I wonering if this is one of the phones Mal found through FCC filings or if this the GSM version of the 800w.
I just realized this is not the Treo 800w, which is a CDMA device. This is obviously another device (I was being a bit slow today) so its in fact great news, and shows Palm's device developent engine is still rolling along.

This is nice, as there has been speculation that Palm intends the 750 to last for a very long time still, which this news hopefully refutes.

Surur
I wouldn't even want to upgrade if the 750 had GPS - its the one thing that I need (given how much i travel for business that is). I got the Tilt, but that form factor is just too annoying for me. Treo form factor is the IDEAL form factor for a smartphone IMO.
please let the red phone button just turn off the screen like every other treo instead of going to the today screen first like the 750!
WTF, this phone is loaded. Doesn't feel like a Palm. :D

1500mAH battery? Color me impressed. I hope the GPS is not the ****ty one in Nokia phone and tablet.
dude seriously...I have best of three worlds. treo 755, blackberry 8820, and iphone. the treo still have a way to go, personally I'm tired of waiting on future phones but I've invested too damn much money to leave the phone completely. the blackberry is sleek, easy to use, and the design is freaking beautiful, Its like it 10 times better than the treo 755, just my opinion though The iphone, one work innovative you really cant compare it with anything, a league of its own.
I think this confirms (or at least boost the chances) that the 800w on Sprint will have Wifi and GPS too--now will it match the rest of those specs?

Either way, sounds great--especially with the slight chance of moving to Deutschland, lol.
no dream specs for me....I want 3 MP autofocus with a real flash and at least 400 mHz proccy, 96 MB RAM and 256 ROM

This will probably have 400mhz and at least 128/256 (if the 800w specs are true, then 256/256 for mem).

Regarding no image: Do you think the and are so similar in overall design and specs, they don't want to show it till Sprint announces/launches the 800w?
Dang near perfect!... If it were running a finished, next-gen, game changing Palm Linux OS.

This will, unfortunately, be one of many high-end WinMob 6.6.6. devices emerging, crowded and barely distinguishable ("special sauce" not-spoken nor withstanding)...

Sigh.
Mal: I hope you're right on Proc and Memory.

Me: /pats self on back for guessing a Q3 release date for the 750 replacement. ;)
And here's WANDA, the 500v successor:

http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/palm-wanda-is-the-treo-500v-successor/
thanks rener!

The Drucker has formidable competition in the Nokia Liam. The only difference (spec-wise) would probably be the OS. The Nokia is looking good too!

And there is also a BlackBerry 8xxxx... All three look similar and have similar specs. It's good to see at least some flagship devices converging to the Treo form-factor. And it's good to NOT see the Treo go the slider way.
Why can't the Drucker be the 800v, which is a 3G/GSM verson of the 800w on Sprint?

I can't see much logic in product names of the past: 750v, 755p etc.

I don't think it really confirms it, because is that what Sprint and VZW really want? They both like to take away features so they can charge you for their service.
It's possible that AT&T will never pick this up. So just be prepared to get a Vodafone import or let's hope that Palm gets an unlocked model to market within a reasonable time.
From what I was told, AT&T considers Palm to be too expensive for WM devices compared to HTC and Samsung and was likely to not carry any more Palm WM devices after the 750.
I HOPE I'm wrong. Hopefully the Drucker will be competetively priced enough for AT&T to pick it up. But I'm not banking on it. :(

Folks, these are the specs I've been hoping/waiting for! Finally! I switched to the Tilt when it came out mostly for wifi. But the higher res screen, GPS, and larger memory are highly valued as well. I'd switch to this in a heartbeat. I'd even pay a full/unlocked price.

I hope this is for real. I admit it's very difficult to believe.

Given the shortage of qwertybar WM6/6.1 Pro devices out, I think it is HIGHLY distinguishable in the market.

More unfounded rumors IMO. If the specs are right, then this thing is at the top of the list, matching the Tilt on mostly everything. Too expensive? I doubt that...

It won't be making it's way to my pocket unless Palm dramatically shaves off bulk and thickness. Samsung has already shown that a touch screen qwerty pro device can be slim with a boatload of features.

I'd definitely like a thinner and lighter Treo as well. 15-16mm thick and 4.5-4.9oz would be perfectly fine with me. I'll take a bigger/heavier device to have that 1500mah battery.
finally a treo that gsm/att/true high end phone users can get excited about. hopefully it will not become vaperware like the beloved foolio:D
I don't understand the rational of the wandar, by replacing a triband phone with a new triband phone, Palm has committed to a standalone oversea-only model.

Did the original 500v really did so well to warrant an ungrade? Why not put a quadband/edge radio in it and sale it to AT&T and TMobile as well. Surely the 3G-less TMobile USA will eat it up?

If AT&T can somehow see that this device differentiates itself enough, they they may change their mind. Say if it's 'sexy' enough to market we.
But HTC and Samsung can and do produce products with matching specs at a lower cost. Therefore AT&T is not interested in similar devices at a higher cost. There's simply no business incentive.
At least this is how it was explained to me. But this device may change this. It all depends.

Unfounded rumor? Absolutely correct.
I'm just trying to set expectations to people which is that AT&T may not chose to carry it.

I certainly hope I'm wrong. I WANT this device. People should just curb their excitement on an AT&T arrival of this which might not come.

Of the Drucker? Screen doesn't look flush to me, so perhaps not?

Did it bluescreen on him during a demo? :D
Ok someone with photoshop skills do a mock-up!

In any case, I see no point in attempting to set expectations when there is no rationale behind the purported expectation. A great device like the Drucker can attract alot of business customers taht buy in bulk.

Dieter... you had inside help. The monkey told you.

Ugh, I suck, two SNL references in a week. You should probably ban me for that.

The Centro has the same specs as the 700/755 but is of higher quality (it actually has a BT 2.0 radio) yet costs much less to produce.

Palm will have these "utlra-tier" devices competitively priced with HTC/Samsung.

I think it's safe to say that is the 800w. If they keep that name of course.
I just wish some of these new Treos that Palm is coming out with had a bit more style. Compared to that new blackberry the BGR leaked (I think it was the 8xxx), the Treos look like toys. Not to mention that super hot half VGA screen res (if my memory serves me right.) The new BB just looks much much more sleek. more svelte, IMO.
I am surprised/disappointed that Palm is not going with 7.2 HSUPA for the Drucker.
Although it says its named after the economist Peter Drucker, Drucker means printer in German, maybe the built in wireless will actually allow me to print to a wireless enabled printer wouldnt that be great!
I was able to do that with my HP RX3417 and a friends wifi printer years ago, if it has wifi you can sure as hell bet you can print-wirelessly to a wifi enabled printer.
very annoyed this wasnt announced officially
also described it isnt sexily coated like the 750 was
So back to the age old question... Windows or palm OS... Palm that I know of has not had a new version in a while. Window at least seams to try and update their system. Which is better? I was a total Palm guy tried windows, went back to palm, but not sure what I like better. If the new phones are coming out are windows, then it sounds like palm is not trying to improve their OS????
Palm is no improving their current OS and further. They are focusing long term on their Linux based OS that is currently in development. So don't look for any huge improvements over the next year.
So, the Treo Pro must be the Drucker! It's interesting the specs said 'flush screen' from the beginning.

OK, so it didn't get a release in July 2008 on Vodafone, but I'm hoping for September here in the UK.
