Samsung i900

Take a gander above at the Samsung i900, spotted by Unwired View at at Dutch convention. We're talking Windows Mobile 6.1, Bluetooth, WiFi, 240x400 Touchscreen, gigantic 1500mAh battery, FM Radio, and TV-Out. Probably one of a gazillion keyboard-less Windows Mobile phones we can expect to see in the coming months.

Oh, did we mention that it is to sport a Five Megapixel Camera? We didn't. Well now we did and now you suddenly are more interested. Sorry, though, because we probably won't see it in the states since it's a Triband phone. Then again, that's what we said about the Samsung SGH-i780, but then Samsung decided to make the SGH-i788 just for us stateside folks.

Speaking of the i788, it looks like this i900 shares its ridiculous “optical mouse but no standard dpad” format. Stop that right now, Samsung.

You neglected to mention the 8 GB memory. Anyways though, this device would have been mildly interesting with a VGA screen, but 240x400 is just bizarre.

Ah, 8gb. That IS a good point.

Heh - I should make it a point to always leave something out - guarantees that somebody will comment to correct me. ;)

Kidding. Yeah, 240x400 is VERY bizarre. They must have gotten a good deal on those screens.

That would make you perfectly qualified to work in the phone industry, who always leave some seemingly simple killer feature out (like a VGA screen on this device for example, or global bands etc).

Surur
This seems like an excellent WM device. Screen resolution isn't the most important feature for me.
Engadget just caught on to this today:

Yeah, I agree and I'm skeptical (as per our earlier discussion on the topic).

For those wondering, at least according to MS, WM6 only supports 400x240 (not 240x400) in Standard i.e. non-touchscreen devices. It's actually listed: 400 x 240 (WQVGA)--but that is specified as Landscape only.

But for touch, that resolution is not mentioned (though many others are).

So either
[LIST]
[*]MS added that resolution (and didn't tell anyone)
[*]Samsung did it somehow themselves
[*]The info is wrong

Should be interesting...
