Snap2Face for Windows Mobile: A Better Facebook App?

Posted on Tuesday, Jul 8, 2008 by Nick Gebhardt

pc_capture1.pngIf FreindMobilizer isn’t your cup of tea you should try Snap2Face. Snap2Face is another application for Windows Mobile that has sprouted up in the recent Facebook frenzy. For some reason or another I just couldn’t get FreindMobilizer to register with my Treo 750 so I decided to give Snap2Face a try, and man was it worth it!

Snap2Face does the little things like contact synchronization, photo uploading, and a great interface that these other apps don’t have. Some other features include the ability to set status while on the go, view friends status, view friends’ friends, and good old fashion poking.

I think this is a great app that has some potential to end up on a lot of Windows Mobile devices. From my trial of four days I can attest that it’s very easy to use and at times addicting. Some improvements that could be made are notifications on screen, syncing in the background instead of having to refresh, and faster photo uploading. Other than that I believe Snap2Face will be a hit because of its beautiful interface. Well that and the fact that it’s completely free. It does use heavy data so make sure you have an unlimited media plan before you get to Facebooking.

why do all these programs require a proxy server. I really dont want to give them access to all the information that is my facebook profile.
much better than friend mobilizer

anything on facebook is essentially public anyways like any other social network. Dont put anything up you wouldnt want anyone to see, its as easy as that
sort of, my profile is relatively locked down. And one can go even farther, to have people who are not your friends not even turn you up in a search.
facebook staff still have access to all of your information. This is of little difference trusting a company not to expose private information. theyve been around for a while theyre not out to get your info.
True, about facebook (and have heard stories of people inside abusing it). However, I would still like to limit my exposure. Don't see why people can't reverse engineer how the palm client works and just use the same interfaces.
seems I was wrong, palm's app also goes the facebook application route.
