If you remember a few weeks ago we dropped the line that Sling was updating their PocketPC client and that they were aiming for a Christmas launch.

Well, looks like they came through as they just announced that new version, which has been making the beta rounds in the last 2 weeks.

Enough small talk, here's what's new. Basically a slew of new device support (full list after the jump) and some new stuff like:

  • Provided you install SlingPlayer Mobile using the .EXE file, it will once again sync Slingbox information between SlingPlayer 2.0 and SlingPlayer Mobile.

  • SlingPlayer Mobile can now perform major/minor tuning, which is often seen for those tuning digital broadcast channels (5.2, 5.3, etc.).

  • The new SlingPlayer Mobile also includes a roaming notification feature, which will let you know if your phone switches to roaming mode while streaming.

  • Updated channel logos.

Not bad at all!

That sound you hear is Mal's production level decreasing. lol. Congrats on getting your update! Ever get your Slingbox fixed?
lmao, I'm not sure my production-level could get any lower! :-P

And no, the box is still broke. (my amateur soldering skills are no match) but just yesterday it was handed off to a super handy, all knowing, gadget freak who can basically fix anything...so here's hoping before the new year!
I love my Slingbox but I still hate the fact there's still no full screen option for square screen devices, whereas every other media player available has the option.
Mal - try just contacting Sling Media to get a replacement box sent to you. I was able to call them on a 2-year old SlingBox Pro that stopped working (the composite inputs seem to no longer accept video or audio) and they're sending me a replacement via RMA.

no kiddin'? that's impressive...well, i'll wait till my friend gives it back and see how it plays, if its still a problem, i'll certainly give that a shot. thanks for the headsup!
w00t!

Got my SBox back today and all is working well. Ahh...so nice.
