Sshot004-1

One of the things that I like about always having a live internet connection on me is that a wealth of live information is always at my fingertips. Along that vein…one of the things that I am constantly seeking updates on (much to my wife’s dismay) are sports scores and news. Until recently, none of my favorite sports sites have been very good at handling mobile web browsers.

CNN’s Sports Illustrated appears to have noticed my plight. Available only on select Windows Mobile devices, mySI mobile allows you to view scores, schedules, and standings for your 4 favorite teams. The product page also states that the data is updated when the application is launched. The coolest feature is the ability to add games to your Outlook calendar.

I was going to do a quick review, but although my Blackjack is listed at the top of the Supported Phones, I get an “Unsupported Device” page when I attempt the install.

Update: I emailed the mySI support team and was sent here. Looks like the manual downloads for each of the supported devices. It would appear that my issue was that I am using WM6, whereas they list the Blackjack I as a WM5 device...

Let us know in the comments if you get it to work, as well as what your thoughts are. After the break - More screenshots!

I get the same problem on my Touch Cruse. I figured that the TC would equate to the 8925.
Treo 750 also is Unsupported. Hopefully, someone can provide the CAB file to those of us who can't get it from SI.

MS
The problem I had above was using Opera. When I tried the link in PIE, everything loaded as normal (as an 8525).
I was using PIE on my Blackjack when I got the "Unsupported device" page...
It recognized a Touch when going direct with PIE.

Don't know how many different cabs there are, but I'm not keen on having somebody as big as SI yelling at me for posting their cabs...
downloaded for me on my MotoQ with Sprint. It's OK-- can't really evaluate because neither of my favorite sports are in season right now, so I can't get a boxscore. Kinda slow GUI.
Yeah kinda slow. it looks like it refreshes data each time you click on your team. It might even get the teams entire schedule each time. I could understand getting the score info but the schedule should be cached to the storage card.
Super slow, that's all I can say....this thing is so far from ready for prime time.
It worked on my Q9c just fine, but it was not very helpful, IMO. Both of the college teams I was tracking lacked in timely updates. One team played yesterday - the game ended at 5:00 CST, but at 9:30 last night that profile still had not been updated. I put this app in the same bucket as Yahoo Mobile - why go to the trouble for a fancy UI when you can long in and get the same info through the browser quicker.
