Dieter,

You must be mistaken. The Sprint Picture Mail App has finally been officially released? On Windows Mobile? I don't believe it. Somebody pinch me.

It's not gonna be like when we got that takedown notice/were forced to go into hiding for three weeks for that leaked version we've reported on in the past, is it? I can't handle that again. Thought I applaud your ability to make a casserole from Spam and saltines. That was mighty tasty.

Anyway, this just can't be. Sprint with an honest-to-goodness picture mail app? Never thought I'd see the day. But sure enough, here's the link to the cab file.

Uh oh. Knew it couldn't be all good news. Malatesta says that his Treo 800w on Sprint isn't supported. That's a pretty big bummer. Actually, it's pretty friggin' ridiculous. Doesn't even work if you disable Palm's custom SMS and use the default Windows Mobile 6.1 style, as detailed in our forums.

I wonder if it'll work on the HTC Touch Diamond. ... Granted, it doesn't have Palm's customizations. But surely Sprint wouldn't screw over both of its latest and greatest devices (not to mention the people who use them). Then again, this is Sprint we're talking about. The more things change, I guess ...

Those kids over at Everything Q sure were on the ball to spot this one.

Phil

(And thanks, Scott, for the tip!)

Update: OK, that rant about the 800w might have been a little premature. (You know we've got high hopes for ya!) A couple of our commenters have noted that there's another link where you can choose your device. Give that a shot. Thanks, xdalaw and dannzeman.

There seems to be a different version for the 800w.

Choose the 800w as the device, and then check free/demo.

I'm installing now.
Mine seems to be working. I got it throught the sprint store software on my 800w.
oh snap...thanks for the correction guys! off to test now...
How does this work in comparison to sMMS?
Mine is also working, it lagged my phone down (800w) but I restarted the phone and everything is working fine now. This is great! +1 for sprint. Better late than never, I guess.
Mine works well too. When I receive a picture, it comes up with my text messages. When I open it, it gives me a button to click and it brings up the normal webpage like before when you click on the link. So in that sense it's kinda the same.

Sending pictures is a ton easier tho. More seamless than sMMS for me (but I was using the free version).

I wish the "post to services" option included Facebook, but I can always send to that email address Facebook gives.
Unfortunately it does not appear this works for Windows Mobile 5 phones. I guess I have to wait to buy the Touch Diamond to get something other than sMMS.
Anyone try this on the Touch? Mine won't go through to anyone.
i went to the sprint store but i cant find it. if anyone would like to find it for and place a link for a treo 700wx please. and thank you.

Yup works great on my Touch.

It seems like this is not for any wm5 devices. Theres no D/L link for the 6700 either.

I tried sending a PM but post count is too low. try these links and give them a try. And post count is too low to post links. You'll need to add the http and remove the space berore the section after com/wap.....

Maybe a mod can edit my post to be somewhat useful!

most devices: softwarestore.sprint. com/wap/downloads/picturemail/WinPM.CAB

800w version: softwarestore.sprint. com/wap/downloads/picturemail/WinPM_800w.CAB
I can't get it to work on my Mogul. I keep getting the G66 error. I've opened the "Configure Picturemail" app and selected "reset"and I still get the G66 error, :(
This is pretty consistently slowing down my q9c. Every couple of minutes, it'll get stuck and the title bar will switch to say "PictureMail" so its getting uninstalled now.

Is it just me, or is anyone else having trouble getting onto sprint's software store website?

*make that the sprint website in general... what's going on?

The app worked on my Sprint HTC Mogul (6800), after a little coaxing with my facebook account. Works like a dream now.
