With enough niceties to beat the trousers off of anything currently on the market without stressing its hardware, the MDA Compact IV looks to be a geek’s dream come true. Check this out…

  • 4GB of internal memory
  • 640x480 (VGA) touch screen with 3D graphics
  • 3 megapixel camera with autofocus
  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • Tri Band UMTS/HSDPA (7.2 Mbps)
  • GPS
  • Wi-Fi (b/g?)
  • Windows Mobile 6.1 (most likely)

Rumor has it that the hardware is by HTC, which is not surprising. The bad news of course is that those of us in the Western Hemisphere may never see this thing. For those of you interested, the selling price looks to be in the $169 (111 euro) ballpark with their Relax 100 plan. Visit Engadget Mobile for a full gallery.

That's 169 with a contract of course, which is about as much as I paid for my Kaiser on contract.
