Treo Pros Shipping. (Updated: Yes, for real)

Over at TreoCentral, Jennifer notes that she's getting reader reports that the Treo Pro is shipping. Indeed, a spot check on Palm's store page indicates that they have it “IN STOCK” and it should ship in a day or two. Presumably folks who pre-ordered are first in line.

Where by “presumably” we mean “it better be the case that” and by “first in line” we mean “hurry up and ship it” ...because we're currently Treo-Pro-Less at WMEHQ and not enjoying it.

If you haven't yet, go on and read our comprehensive Treo Pro Review. It will work out pretty nicely, because if the Treo Pros are indeed shipping today, you'll finish up around the same time you receive yours.

Update: We've added the dreaded question mark to the title -- some screens on the Palm store are still showing pre-order, our order status is not very reassuring, and our man George Ponder is currently on the phone with Palm's Customer Service (what a trooper!) and they're ...not sure.

UPdate 2: Ok, despite what we posted today about Palm's official response, it does appear that the Treo Pro will begin shipping tomorrow. Myself and several readers have received notices that the Pros are in stock, and will be shipping tomorrow. Can we stop posting Treo Pro Shipping stories now, Palm? KTHX Send us a Treo Pro!

I have seen some references to people getting their Pros already, but haven't seen anyone say they got theirs from a US supplier yet (Palm, Amazon, ebay, etc). I'm hoping to get mine in the next week before I head our of town for a while.

Anyone?

I am in the same boat, wanting mine before heading out of town for awhile. The reps at Palm tell me that the phones are shipping "early" next week - the week of September 22nd. I have no clue whether to believe them or not, but I am semi-hopeful though.

the palm reps told me yesterday mine would ship the 2nd week of october...that's quite a difference. I hope you are right.

I ordered directly from Palm on 9/9 - it stated that I would receive my Treo Pro between 9/23/ and 10/02. The order is awaiting Inventory.

Hopefully, this week. - My Tilt keeps timing out on backlight every 10 seconds - totally useless.

fyi...the 10 second thing is the result of a known bug associated with windows 6.1.....can change it back to 30 sec..1 min...then it randomly goes back to 10 sec. Most of the time after unlocking the keys.
I put my sim back in my q9h till i receive the Pro.

Does anybody remember: what was the recent smartphone that everybody who pre-ordered got screwed on because the company didn't ship pre-orders before new orders when the devices finally came in stock?

The answer I just got from Palm (take it for what it's worth) is that they were available early this morning and will start shipping in the next day or two, probably by the end of the week. My order still says backordered and he told me that won't change until it gets shipped (by the end of the week).

Here's to hoping I got a CSR that knew what he was talking about!

i called inquiring about my TreoPro battery order (that arrived while i was on the phone) and, when i asked about my phone order, the CSR said there was no change in my "awaiting inventory" status. the CSR also said the inventory system showed "0" inventory. i'll know something's up when i get a txt msg/email from my bank notifying me about a $400.00+ charge to my CCard. :)

My bank still shows the charge pending. I ordered the phone 3 days ago. Not thrilled since they said no charge until the phone ships. They weren't supposed to hit my card until shipping.

Yes if you look at the fine print, the Palm order system says that if you use a debit card - it can 'reserve' the money ahead of time.

I personally think that it is irresponsible for Palm to have this delay in shipping the phones. It's bad enough that we are willing to pay $$$ to get it, but they could AT LEAST have it in stock!

And to make it worse, they lead me to believe that after ordering the Treo Pro today, I would have it TOMORROW (paid for next day after seeing it in stock). What a complete let down - again.

But I can't wait to get it whenever it ships!

I called Palm earlier today, they say the orders have started shipping already and mine should be shipping next week. Bear in mind I ordered the phone HOURS after I got the pre-order email, so I'd assume I am at the front of the list.

I dunno, Palm has been very silenced in all things Pro for the US market... I mean their "launch" of this flagship product in the US is far from even being considered soft launch: Zero information, updates, official press releases... I even wonder if this has to do with the US Carrier that does not wanna loose marketing momentum if Palm starts advertising this device right now.

So that is straight from Palm. Oh well, I was hoping that the Treo Pros really had starting shipping today. :(

I wish I knew tgwaste. I have no idea. It's very confusing. You can go here and see that the page has "pre-order" on it instead of "Buy", but when you click on "pre-order", the next page has that same information still yet about the Treo Pro being "In Stock" and that it "usually ships in 1-2 full business days".

Palm needs to update that page if the Treo Pro isn't in stock.

Well, if the status doesn't change tomorrow I'm cancelling my order. The site said 2-3 weeks over 2 weeks ago when I ordered it. I'm leaving town on Sunday and won't be back for a while. Who knows, by then maybe I'll be more interested in the Fuze (for a lower price no doubt). Palm has put a sour taste in my mouth with this.

I ordered mine 9/10 and got an email saying it should arrive before 10/14. As of this morning my order status is, "Awaiting inventory", so I expect that it will not arrive until the 2nd week of Oct.

There seems to have been a very small batch sent out that week in the UK. Now no suppliers have stock. Vodafone UK have some, and they are probably getting priority as a carrier partner.

I know it's easy for me to say as I have mine, but... be patient guys - it's worth the wait!

Well. Mike was right. The bank no longer shows the charge. I'm content to wait a couple weeks. As a matter of fact I hope a bunch of you get your first so that if there are any major bugs I can cancel. Not anxious to be the first $500 guinea pig.

Yep :D
Most those who get the new phones as soon as they are released are actually paying Palm $500 to be beta testers.
Some have no prob with this and if I had an extra $500 laying around, I would gladly be on board.

Apple seems to be the biggest abuser of this, they release stuff so that the early adopters can help them work out their buggy pieces of junk.

Well, who knows what the truth is anymore, but I thought I'd share what I was just told. I called to cancel my order because I'll be gone the next two weeks and want to hold off. The guy said that they do have inventory, they started shipping today, and that since I was one of the first I'm slated to be shipped sometime tonight or tomorrow morning. He also promised that if it was shipped tomorrow it would be here Saturday since fedex overnight includes Saturday.

We'll see.

Just was reading on WMExperts.com and it showed a picture of Lawrence Fishburne posing with a Treo Pro. He wanted one. The article says even celebrities have to wait until October 14. Only pre-orders and device will arrive before the 14th.

The information I received from Palm was that the units were being boxed up today for shipping, to go out tomorrow. As many have said, pre-orders first and new orders not expected to ship until mid-October.

Are you sure it's your shipping confirmation? In other words, does it have a tracking number?

Everyone else has only received the in stock confirmation, so I'd be curious to know if yours actually shipped.

I have checked the staus of my order 2 times a day for the last 15 days and everyday it says, "Awaiting inventory". But I recieved and email from palm today stating that I would be charged when my order ships and when I checked the status it has finally changed to, "Items located in stock".

Looks like the Treo Pro has been released in the US!!!!!

The case I ordered and the usb charger they are sending are both showing backordered status.

Yes...like most of you who ordered probably did.
Price wasn't bad..like $18ish to ship to Florida...I think palm will be pumping these out quickly to those who pre-ordered.

Not to be malicious here, but I ordered mine on 9/24. It's sitting in a box right now in Palm's warehouse with a UPS label waiting to be pickup tomorrow. It's scheduled for delivery on 9/29 (too bad they don't deliver on weekends).

Is Palm shipping out the Treo Pros to the newer orders FIRST instead of the pre-orders?

Same here. I doubt we will get them tomorrow, Palm has 'processed' the shipping but UPS may not have picked them up yet. I'm expecting mine Monday, UPS doesn't do Sat delivery unless you pay for it

well, if i use your case as an example, i could say "Yes" they are... I ordered mine on 9/9 around 8 am, and my status says "item located in stock"; no "shipped" email yet, but a confirmation email today says expect delivery on or before 9/29. looks like i'll be spending more quality time with my Sprint Diamond this weekend. :cool:

Ditto here, I was expecting to get my bundle of tech-joy a week from now but... It was an unexpected surprise and actually a bit on the bad news for me (shocking I know! :confused: ) since I am out of town this weekend...

I received the email and tracking information at 1:00 AM EST, UPS only has the basic billing info received and it shows that the phone was "shipped" on the 26th (Friday). I hope then to see something by Monday!

Patience is wearing out! Anyway expect me on Monday be posting asking on the steps to get the phone on AT&T... and hopefully I'll be making a new forum entry using the brand new Treo Pro soon!

I just called UPS and was told I should receive mine today instead of 9/29. I received my first Treo 600 in 9/03 and bought my last Treo 750 in January 07. I used it for a few months then switched to HTC unlocked devices and iPhone. This device appears to have everything I want and need. Now, what about accessories?

got mine about an hour ago. I got the basic setup already done (exchange mail, ring tone etc) Waiting for the battery to charge. My battery that came with it was 100% dead. Good thing I already had an extra waiting for me. :-)

Initial impressions....

Really sharp looking
Lots of finger prints
nice screen
keyboard I'm on the fence still but it's pretty small.
the device in general is a good bit smaller then a motoq

so far so good.

Just put your thumb in lower right and push from bottom right to top left. Be gentle it will easily pop off. Just takes time. It may help the first couple of times to remove the stylus first.

Both My "Local" UPS and Fedex Office are very close to me. On many occasions I've called them and asked them to hold a package at their offices for me to go and pick Up. My Pro is scheduled to be delivered on Mon. But it has not yet arrived to my "local" UPS office!!

A Palm rep told me yesterday that it would be delivered "today or tomorrow" (Friday or Saturday). I asked if Saturday delivery was specified for UPS, because that is an extra charge, and since it was being deliverd to my company address, no one would be there to receive it. He said "I guess not...."

Now UPS shows an on schedule delivery for Monday, even though I have an e-mail pre-order confirmation that is within two hours of receiving the Palm e-mail pre-order announcement. From this and the posts of others, it does not appear that they processed by order number.

I don't USE UPS EVER.. they are the worst. They always deliver my NEXT DAY packages between 6-7 PM, they don't deliver Saturday, and they have limited pick up options.. I never Use them. USPS, DHL, both deliver Next day.
Also I paid the extra money for NEXT day via PALM, and now they are shipping everyone Free next day from what I understand. I want my Money back for shipping.. grrr. In stock Thursday.. get it Monday.. to me.. that is NOT next day.. I know it's next Business day.. but, .. just irks me.

a few things.. having connectivity issues with tmobile. And tmobile 3G data services are unavailable on unbranded phones!

tmobile 3g uses a difference band then at&t etc.. treo pro doesnt support it. edge should work though. what are your other issues? i may be able to help.

its no secret that tmobile 3g will not work on treo pro..

as far as your connection problems. I know how to fix that by looking but cant explain it without a phone in my hand. soon as mine gets delivered ill find those settings and let you know. mine shipped on the 27th too, but it says 'billing information revieved' since then and hasnt changed. sure hope it comes today.

Turns out my issue is the building/immed area I am in wont receive signal. It was better with my old 680 arg..so frustrating. Are you thinking there is a solution to that??

Won't help... The Pro supports 3G on 850, 1900 and 2100mHz bands - that covers almost all of the world. T-Mobile (at least in the US) uses 1700mHz only for 3G, so the Pro (as currently manufactured) is incapable of using T-Mo's 3G network. Sorry!

My order with Buy.com is stuck in "Sent to Warehouse" hell. After placing my order, I did some googling and found that Buy.com doesn't actually stock items, instead they just pass them off to suppliers.
