It’s been almost a year since we first hear about this phone (aka the Silver), and now the HP Voice Messenger has made its debut on Europe’s Vodafone network. [via Brighthand] Here’s what we’re looking at:

  • HP iPAQ Voice Messenger Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard.
  • 528 MHz Qualcomm 7201A Processor
  • 2.4-inch 320x240 screen.
  • 20-key alphanumeric/qwerty keypad.
  • 900/1900/2100 and 850/900/1800/1900 radios.
  • aGPS.
  • WiFi b/g.
  • Bluetooth 2.0 w/EDR.
  • Weight: 107 grams.
  • Dimensions: 5.0x1.36x11.4 centimeters.
  • 256 megs ROM/128 megs RAM.
  • 1260 mAh removable battery.
  • 3.1MP camera with flash.

All in all, a pretty good offering from HP. Vodafone’s offering it (on contract) for $125 (U.S.), all the way down to free. Off-contract is looking close to $500 (U.S.).

Brighthand also notes that the Voice Messenger’s cousin, the slider/front keypad iPAQ Data Messenger (that was the Oak), is still in the “Coming Soon” stage.

We’ll note that these are two pretty solid devices from HP. Not the best of what’s around, but solid nonetheless. The question remains whether U.S. carriers will ever give HP another shot to go against the new hotness from HTC, Sony Ericsson and, yes, even Palm.

Really nice looking phone there and the specs look pretty good as well. No mention of the processor, but I doubt it's a weak one.

/me looks at T-Mobile Dash and sighs
Knew something was missing ... No slouch here, either.
