Live Mesh online

OK, so the launch of the Live Mesh mobile client wasn't exactly smooth. But first things first: This is beta software, and glitches are inevitable. Let's keep that in mind.

Now that everything's up and running, let's take a look at Live Mesh. We'll mainly focus on the new mobile client, but we'll also take a brief look at the desktop version.

WMExperts Head-to-Head Vids. Oh, and the Samsung Epix

Posted on Thursday, Oct 30, 2008 by Dieter Bohn

Although we already reviewed the Samsung Epix and gave it a quick once-over in comparison to the Treo Pro, we figured you'd like to see it in video form up against it's AT&T friends.

Now, the video starts with a request which I'll repeat here. The Epix is pretty much the straw the broke the camel's back for us -- there are now officially too many Windows Mobile Smartphones available in the United States for any sane person to be able to keep track of them all (and no, we're not sane here at WMExperts, but we suspect you might be). So, since we have darn-near every single current WM phone on-hand, we're asking:

Shoot an email to me directly -- dieter@wmexperts.com -- with a request for us to compare two (2 -- no more) smartphones directly. Make the subject line “Head-toHead: X vs Y” where X and Y are the smartphones you want compared. We'll shoot a quick video running down specs and our thoughts on which one we prefer, why, and so on. There may not be a perfect Windows Mobile phone, but hopefully some head-to-head comparisons will help you find the perfect WM phone for you.

We want to do these, so we'll sweeten the pot: we'll give a 15% off coupon to the WMExperts Store to the first 10 people who email me with head-to-head requests.

Review: 24 Hours with the Sprint Touch Pro (Updated)

The Touch Pro for Sprint was originally scheduled to be released on Oct 19th, then delayed to Nov 2nd, and then bumped up to Oct 26th. With all this confusion we at WMExperts wanted to give you a full review of the Sprint Touch Pro with our first impression of the first 24 hrs of its (limited) release. We will then do a follow up review in about 3-4 weeks with an in-depth long term look at the Touch Pro, how it does on extensive road trips, what customizations we ended up adding to, what 3rd party software we felt are must haves, etc.

With a slew of new phones hitting the market so closely together, it can be challenging to decide which one is the best for you or which one lives up to its expectations, or which ones fall flat on its face. So for now, we are are going to dive into the Touch Pro and see if it is all that it has been hyped up to be. Is it worth $299 (which includes a $100 rebate and discount with a 2 year contract)? Did HTC cut any corners at the expense of the consumer (like with the RAM in the PPC-6800)? What new technologies and advancements did HTC throw in?

After playing with it and delving deep into the Touch Pro for the last 24 hours, I am in awe of some really cool new features, impressed with others, and have developed my wish list that would have made it a perfect phone. I believe that the few improvement wishes are greatly overshadowed by the positive features the Sprint Touch Pro has to offer. Read on to see all the details...

PIM Smackdown Redux with Extreme Agenda

extremeAgenda-01.gif

The exercise of comparing and contrasting software is always a daunting procedure. As in politics, there are always people who have strong feelings in both directions, as well as people who feel left out (with good reason) if you don’t mention their candidate or choice.

Many of you will remember the PIM (Personal Information Manager) Smackdown that we did several months ago. There were some comments at the conclusion of the series regarding some products that were left out of the review. After doing some additional research we felt it was worth a second look.

Extreme Agenda by Birdsoft is one of the PIM applications that have been around for a while. For a full breakdown of Extreme Agenda, please see the review by Malatesta. To see how it compares with our previous contestants in this PIM Smackdown (Agenda Fusion and Pocket Informant), keep reading.

Bluetooth Headsets are growing in popularity as well as variety. While there have been a few duds amongst the choices out there, fortunately they are far outnumbered by the quality devices. Jabra’s latest offering, the BT530 Bluetooth Headset ($89.95) that incorporates the companies latest audio technology and hopes to join the ranks of quality Bluetooth headset to choose from. Epix Review Six

Over the past few weeks, we’ve played the name game with this new Samsung phone. Now that the curtain has risen to reveal the true identity of the i907 Epix, we shared themanual and reported on the AT&T availability. While a lot has been written on the specifications and features of this new Windows Mobile device, it’s time to offer some hands on observations. How fat is the Epix? Is it a door stop or a well balanced, comfortable to use Windows Mobile device? Is the battery life any good? Any lag time? How does it measure up to the latest kid on the block, the Treo Pro? What the heck is haptic feedback? You’ll find observations and answers to these and more questions after the break!

Review: Motorola T305 Portable Bluetooth Car Kit

Posted on Monday, Oct 20, 2008 by George Ponder

T305%20Main.jpg

Hands free cell phone operations not only adds to the safety of using a cell phone while driving but in many States it is the law. There are several installed hands free units and then there’s the Bluetooth headset but some don’t want a complicated system installed in their car or find Bluetooth headsets uncomfortable. Motorola offers a simple, portable alternative to hands free operation with the Motorola T305 Portable Bluetooth Car Kit ($64.95)
