Manufacturers of Bluetooth headsets are in an arms race of sorts in an effort to design and build a headset with the most complete noise cancellation possible. Various headsets sporting an assortment of hardware and software solutions have been marketed over the years as offering high end noise reduction and cancellation, but it has never quite been perfected.

Jabra is probably best known for its Bluetooth wireless headsets, but it also produces quality Bluetooth speakers. It offers an entry-level/easy series SP-200 and now are adding to their advanced model/smart series with the Cruiser. The Easy Series speakers from Jabra cover the basic hands-free operations and the Smart Series adds a few more bells and whistles such as a FM transmitter.

Not everyone is comfortable wearing a Bluetooth headset, but still wants a hands-free environment while driving. The Jabra Cruiser, being part of the Smart Series, will give you hands-free operation of your Windows phone along with the ability to channel streaming audio to your FM radio.

With Christmas just around the corner, you may be looking for a headset for someone on your shopping list. If you haven’t checked it out already, take a look at the WMExperts Store Holiday Gift Guide. One of the products on the wish list of the illustrious Dieter Bohn is Motorola’s H17 Bluetooth Headset.

Motorola has been making headsets for a long time, and its product line includes some pretty impressive options. The H790 and the H15 are both solid headsets that we’ve reviewed in the past. The H17 takes a lot of design cues from the H15, most obviously the hinged boom microphone that doubles as a power switch.

Jabra has been making headsets, wired and wireless, for a very long time. Every now and then they come up with a design or feature that really makes their headset stand out. The new Jabra Stone not only stands out among Bluetooth headsets -- in many ways it rises above them. The headset was officially released on Nov. 8, 2009, and currently is an exclusive through AT&T.

Its unique style is an eye-catcher, and Jabra does a good job with introducing new features to the Bluetooth headset market. While the Jabra Stone is in a way groundbreaking, does the performance match the innovations? Does style meet substance?

Bluetooth headsets are getting thinner, smaller and lighter and Motorola has done a good job keeping pace with this trend in the Motorola H790. Measuring in at 2 inches long by 0.8 inches wide and 0.3 inches high, the H790 weighs a paltry 0.34 ounces.

With all of the choices that technology gives us, sometimes the differences between one device and another get blurred. This statement is especially true with the proliferation of Bluetooth headsets. Most headsets follow a similar shape and offer similar features, so it can be difficult to discern the pros and cons of a particular product.

The flip side of this argument is that when a manufacturer releases a headset that breaks the mold and brings a new form factor and/or groundbreaking features, it comes as a breath of fresh air to those of us who follow the market closely. The Bluetooth headset market is at the point where it gets very hard to determine what headset fits your needs perfectly. Price, build quality, fit/comfort and sound quality all come into play when shopping for your headset.

A quick search of this site will reveal numerous reviews of Jabra headsets, all with different advantages. But let's not forget the entry-level headset. Inexpensive products with quality features can be hard to come by in a space dominated by expensive devices loaded with features that many people would never use. Jabra’s BT2080 falls in this niche, offering a headset for $39.95.
