Review: Jabra BT4010

All of us know someone who is technophobic. The fear of technology, and sometimes just the fear of change, has prevented many people from making the move to a Bluetooth headset. The learning curve in deciphering the various beeps and led flashes is partially to blame for this phenomenon.
Jabra has been one of the top players in the headset market since before there was a market. Long a proponent of innovation and improvements technologically, they targeted a different kind of advancement with the BT4010 headset. In an effort to simplify, Jabra included an LCD screen with small icons that give quick and easy to understand feedback on the battery and connection status.

Concept
The concept (simplicity) is so obvious that it is amazing that there hasn’t been more of a movement in this direction. Thinking back to the days when my state began requiring the use of hands-free devices while driving, a major national electronics retailer actually offered a service for $10 to pair your Bluetooth headset to your phone.
Design
The design of the headset is fairly standard. Two sizes of optional ear hooks are included to provide the most comfort and security for each user. A call button sits on the outside of the unit, while volume controls sit on the top (assuming you are wearing the headset on your right ear). A charging port is placed on the back of the headset.
The icons mentioned earlier (Jabra calls the system Smart Display) display status for the battery charge level, Bluetooth status and call status. All three icons are distinct, but small. This isn’t going to be the best choice for someone who has problems reading small text.
Quality
This product holds up the high standard that Jabra is known for. The only part that is remotely flimsy (other than the ear hooks, which are flexible by design) is the charging port. The connector is of the “micro-usb” variety, which is not the same as mini-usb. Battery life is rated at 6 hours of talk time or up to 150 hours of standby time.
Conclusion
I really see this as the best possible headset for those that are nervous about learning a new piece of technology or are just not technologically inclined. If this describes you or someone you know, click over to the WMExperts store and purchase yours for $69.95.
