Review: Seidio Super Slim Rubberized Hard Case for AT&T Tilt

The first accessory I typically buy for a new phone, is a case. If I’m going to invest in a Smartphone, I’m going to protect my investment. The Tilt, with it’s sliding and tilting action that gets any hinge-nerd excited…is a little more challenging than normal to design a case for. Enter the Seidio Rubberized Case for the Tilt ($32.95).

Design

A quick browse around the Wmexperts store reveals many cases that allow the phone to slide, but not tilt. This particular case comes in two pieces that snap on either side of the handheld, allowing for the full range of motion from the hinge that gives the phone it’s name. While there is no protection for the screen, it does do a good job of protecting the edges of the phone from a fall.

Quality

As the title suggests, the case is made out of a hard, rubberized material. The case snaps perfectly around the phone body, with cut-outs for the camera and external GPS antenna, as well as the front camera available on certain variants of the HTC Kaiser. The frame is solid enough to protect against a fall, and tight enough to protect against dust.

Look and Feel

The case gives the phone a more tactile feel, and doesn’t obstruct any of the buttons. The buttons on the side of the phone (power and camera in particular) are more recessed than before, but because of the indentation left by the case they are actually easier to find by touch. The case comes in three colors: Black, Burgundy and Blue.

Overall

When I first got this case, I wasn’t very impressed. It seemed rather flimsy to be a hard case. Once installed on the phone however, it has a very secure feel to it. While it does add a bit of size, it more than makes up for that in the level of protection it adds to your phone. I also found the process of putting the case on and taking it off to be fairly easy once you did it a few times…a couple of the plastic clips require you to hold the phone at a funny angle to get them off, but it’s not an impossibility. All in all, I'm a fan of the Seidio Rubberized Case for the Tilt ($32.95).
