Oh sure, nothing like that annoying 2.5mm headphone jack that is pretty standard on mobile devices these days and if you have yet to migrate to the slightly more expensive, but totally worth it, A2DP Stereo BT (see recent reviews here) then you may be wanting to use your high-end fancyschmancy wired headphones. Luckily if you skipped that coffee and doughnut this morning you might be able to afford a solution: the Palm headphone adapter ($5.95).
Hit that link to read this tiny review with some...adrenaline-pumping actions shots? But only if you can handle the excitement as we're not going to be held liable for weak hearts here at WMExperts.
So there isn’t too much to say about the Palm headset adapter, I know surprise.
This is meant for any device with a 2.5mm hole who wants to go to 3.5mm and Palm says it works on these devices:
SMT5600 / Cingular 8125, 2125 / iPAQ hw6925, iPAQ hw6515 / Treo 750, Treo 700wx, Treo 700w / T-Mobile MDA, SDA
But we're faily confident this will work on most devices with a 2.5mm adapter e.g. the Moto Q.
It straight out adapts with no frills. The design is…interesting. As you can tell from our extra high res photos, it has this elbow type design and makes headset jack face a totally different direction. Now obviously Palm did this so the adapter won’t stick straight out an inch and they didn’t go the other route whereby you have a little wire hanging off. Overall the design works well in the sense that this is probably the most stable and least likely to break adapter you’ll find—no thin wires, no moving parts. Feel free to throw this in your pants or pouch and not worry about it as it’s very durable.
Sound was fine and I had no issues with it on other devices like the Moto Q or 700wx You’ll have to think about how you carry your device though as some cases have room for the headset jack, but this may now block that option, so give that some serious thought first.
To conclude, it did its job and for $5.95 you can now plug in your Bose headset if you like, not a bad deal at all.
