With all of the hype over cell phones and vehicles, more and more people are using (and are even required by law to use) various forms of hands free devices. On the other side of the coin though, there are times when having your phone within reach is necessary. One example in particular is the use of GPS software on your phone. We at WMExperts have done a couple of reviews recently on GPS software that is available for Windows Mobile, but how do you make use of the GPS functionality and still maintain a reasonable level of safety?
iGrip makes an array of vehicle mounts for mobile devices. The style you choose depends largely on what type of vehicle you drive and what your needs are. This review will take a look at the iGrip Universal Fit Sturdy Swivel Mount. Click on for the full review.

The two problems that I have heard with vehicle mounts are as follows. First, people complain that it doesn’t actually put the phone where you can see it without taking your eyes completely off of the road. Second, vibration caused by the actual driving makes the device unusable. I’m going to take a look at both of these complaints.
Features
The iGrip Universal Mount uses a large suction cup to maintain it’s position on your car. You have the option of either mounting it directly to a window, or you may use the included adhesive platform to mount it directly to your dash.
Since the Mount doesn’t use a flexible arm, the vibration concern that I mentioned above doesn’t hold water at all. In my testing I never had a problem seeing the display on my phone. There are two swivel points on this mount. One is at the mid-point of the mount (rotates vertically), and the other is right behind the phone holder (rotates horizontally). The vertical joint features locks in place with the twist of a knob, preventing the mount from sagging over time. The only downside to the design is that the joints will only turn so far, leaving your phone hanging slightly crooked at certain angles.
Usability
This Mount installation is simplicity itself. The suction cup features a locking mechanism, which attaches it securely to your windshield. The grip for the phone features two extensions on the bottom to prevent your device from sliding out the bottom, while two foam-covered arms squeeze in on your device to hold it in place. These arms unlock with the push of a button.

Quality
The build quality on this device is phenomenal. There are few moving parts, and all feel very secure.
Conclusion
I really like the way that iGrip designed this mount. The only reason that I might suggest that you look at some other options is if your windshield sits too far away out of reach, since this mount doesn’t extend out very far.
