(Update: We've also posted our Full Review of the Fuze!)

That's right, we have the AT&T Fuze here and are showing it off just a bit. Our initial impression: impressed. The Fuze feels solid, it has a surprising heft for what turns out to be a very small package. Well, small if you don't count the fact that it's about as thick as the AT&T Tilt. Cutting down the width and the height of the device makes a big difference -- though you will have to take our word for it until you can get one in your own hands.

TouchFLO 3D and Opera Mobile both perform much better than they did on the GSM Touch Diamond -- they're about on par with our experience with the Sprint Touch Pro. There's plenty of extra software included in there as well: YouTube, a business card scanner, remote desktop, internet sharing, a bootload of game demos, Jetcet Print, Sprite Backup, a JVM, AT&T GPS, and a few more.

One thing we forgot was coming on the Fuze: Push to Talk. There's a big ol' PTT button on the side (fortunately it can be remapped) next to the volume buttons.

We have lots more to say about the Fuze, on topics ranging from the keyboard (good, but not quite as easy to type on as sliders-past), screen (640x480 FTW), performance (cautiously optimistic), and, well, and everything. We're blocking off our weekend to for this sucker, so stay tuned.

Meanwhile, join us after the break for 13ish minutes of Fuze-on-Video goodness and a bootload of photos (including Fuze vs. Tilt and Fuze vs. Diamond)

I would love to get the JVM from AT&T Fuze to install in my Sprint HTC Pro. Can you please post that for me..?
niice. wished there was some comparison with sprints touch pro.
looks sweet
352 brahh
yea i agree a few pics next to the sprint verison would be nice
For the life of me, I cannot understand why the AT&T Fuze does not use the new 5th row of the keyboard as dedicated number keys!! FAIL!
Yeah I was totally looking forward to the dedicated row for the numbers...I guess they want to keep the numbers in a block like a traditional phone...but I never use them like that anyway.

Oh well. I'm still super excited to upgrade from my 8525 to this bad boy, hopefully next week!
[COLOR="Navy">I'm looking to try out this phone as well. Then I can dump the 8525 for good(it did serve me well though), since it's a good replacement.

I never upgraded to the Tilt because of the WM6 upgrade for the 8525.[/COLOR]
Hey Dieter if you get a chance can you check to see if the Fuze will charge via wall charger or usb if your either using a constant data connection (tethering) or while talking on a phone call for a while. I ask because with the Sprint Touch Pro the phone will never charge while I'm on a phone call. It will show that it's charging but the battery just continues to drain as it would if it wasn't plugged into a charging source. Thanks bro.

Perhaps because it's much easier to type a string of digits (like a telephone number) when the numbers are all clustered together as a numeric keypad instead of being strung out across the whole width of the keyboard? (Just hit FN twice to NumLock the keyboard.) Or maybe because it's really convenient to have no-shift access to frequently-used symbols like @ and -?

The AT&T arrangement is a real improvement over the original Touch Pro version, and I'm really happy they made that change.
dieter,
i know its very subjective and are 2 diff devices but common os, could u compare the treo and fuze? what's ur opinion on both devices?which would u buy?
thx
Who sings the song F**K?
I know this is a great smart phone. Most people seem to forget that it is actually a phone. I wanted to know how is the call quality? Some smart phones like the new blackberry bold from AT&T have experienced hiss and poor call quality on both ends. I am very interested in this phone but I need to know if it has good call quality.
Even though I'm a bit biased (Sprint user, started with 6700, now have the Mogul) I think the Sprint Touch Pro looks sexier. I would welcome a side-by-side comparison, though.
Add me to those who would like a side-by-side comparison of the Sprint and AT&T versions of the Touch Pro.

Also, does the AT&T Fuze have the FM Radio?
@untouchablez -

It certainly seems to charge just fine when I'm using data or on a call when it's plugged into the wall.
I’m really not convinced that it’s necessary to upgrade from the Tilt to the Fuze. Sure, it has a VGA screen and Touchflo 3d, but I’m fine with HTC Home. Also, no tilting screen, not nearly enough buttons to remap, worse keyboard, and slightly smaller screen. I saw the Diamond at a Sprint store a couple of weeks ago and wasn’t impressed. I know small is good, but that’s probably only true for thickness, not for height and width (see iPhone). The Diamond just seemed kind of puny. And then putting a thick keyboard on the bottom–it just doesnt seem like it would look or feel like a real power device. I plan to wait it out until the next generation. But that’s just me.
I like the keyboard layout that AT&T went with as well. Hope the Nov. 11th date holds up!

@connekkted - What in the world does a Bloodhound Gang song have to do with this topic?!?
I saw the Sprint Touch Pro, and also the AT&T Fuze. Personally, I like the AT&T Fuze better, although I like the UI on the Sprint version better. The AT&T Fuze is more similar to the original GSM version with the faceted diamond back. I like the square look of it over the rounded chrome edges of the Sprint version. Also, I thought the Fuze had a better spring action than the Sprint's. The Sprint model I played with didn't snap in place as decisively as AT&T's. For definitive spring action try the T-Mobile G phone. The spring action on that slider phone is something else.

I'm really excited by this phone. The phone still feels a little laggy to me, but WinMo fanatics find some way to live with this and work around this. I think, as a group, we're willing to work for mobile love. Apple I-phone and Blackberry types have it spoon fed to them. We work for the goodness, and I guess that's the way we want it.
I heard that the touch pro comes with a screen protector in the packaging. I have an 8125 which I bought a protector from InvisibleShield. Is the phone screen/body prone to scratching? Is the included screen protector good?
I purchased the Fuze on Friday, November 14th...my local AT&T got their shipment a few days late. After using the original Blackjack for the past 2+ years, the Fuze is an upgrade in every sense. As it's first and foremost a phone, I should let everyone know I've received many unsolicited remarks about the greatly improved call quality versus my Blackjack. It also grabs a signal with greater ease. It's not without its flaws, but overall I'm extremely happy with the aesthetics and functionality. Rather than list the many PROS, I will list only the CONS:

Scroll bars on edges of screen hard to manipulate without the stylus; Web pages don't always load at a readable zoom level; Lacks one-click access to camera; Battery life could be better
Just got mine last week - mostly so far so good. After watching the video on this site, my question is: "Where is the You Tube link?" Does it come on the phone already or was it loaded from the DVD that came with the thing?
Great review! I've been researching for more than a year in deciding on a smartphone device. Though costly and overcoming the slight worry about the keyboard (my fingers are too big for the buttons), I'm truly impressed with this device. I tried the keyboard out in an ATT store and it only took maybe a minute or so to feel comfortable using it. Everything, from display and resolution, touchflow, WM pro features, camera and additional software all looks great. So I'm probably going to wait till January to see if the price drops down. If not, than I can settle for the latest silver striped version of the Motorola Q9h Global.

can you turn off touch flo 3d

does the HTC Fuze have T9 texting

Did they fix the problem with the Tilt screen being useless in sunlight?
I hope because that is the main problem I have with the tilt.
