Samsung I8000 the Omnia 2?

Well, well, well. What have we here? This odd little phone from Samsung (that'd be for the cube button at the bottom) snuck up on us and could well be the next in the Omnia line. First, the deets, from Lithuanian site Mobili Linija [via]:

Windows Mobile 6.1
Quad-band EDGE, 2100MHz HSDPA.
3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen (!) at 480x800 pixels
Qualcomm MSM6290 processor
Bluetooth 2.0
WiFi b/g
aGPS
1500mAh battery
MicroSD card
8.1MP camera with flash, VGA video at 30fps.

Now, the odd (but cool) stuff: Phone Area also says this handset has also appeared with the Cubic37 codename. Pair that with the cube button at the bottom of the phone, and it's getting pretty likely that it could sport Samsung's rumored 3D cube UI.

Obviously this isn't something we'd see here with only the 2100MHz 3G band. But it's defintely something we'll an eye out for more on it in the future.

why the budget CPU for such a high-end device?

this device needs a at least a 625Mhz CPU (preferably Tegra or Snapdragon).

i'm hoping the CPU info is a mistake, as i'd be VERY suprised if Samsung released a phone like this, with 800*480 screen, and yet only have 400*320 video playback.

The MSM6290 HSUPA chipset features:
- 5 megapixel camera support
- WQVGA video playback
- Integrated Assisted-GPS, 3D graphics and high-speed USB support

This is a fake (although a rather cool one), because there's no required start button for windows 6.5. Now, I did notice it was only sporting 6.1, but to make a 6.1 this late in the game that didn't off a free upgrade to 6.5 is ludicrous.

It's not fake. It will be announced in the coming days. The MSM6290 is the baseband (radio) chip and it has a Samsung S3C6410 CPU ( http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/support/brochures/d... )

I would say HELLZ yeah to the Omnia 2 as a previous Omnia owner! Cnet.com gave the Omnia a slightly better rating vs. the I-cell any ways. I know the aps may be more fun to the i-cell but service is WAY more reliable! Also 5 mp auto focus camera and now a standard audio jack! Plus much more as the Omnia does kick A$$!!
