Samsung Omnia II

Yeah, you read that right. Not the iPhone. Not the Pre. Not a BlackBerry. Not that newfangled Droid. A Windows Mobile phone is the official phone of the 2010 Winter Olympics. And not just any phone, the Samsung Omnia II with its AMOLED screen and 800MHz processor, Windows Mobile 6.5 and all the trimmings. Not bad, eh? [Press release via Unwired View]

Not bad? This is not an award. Samsung BOUGHT the right to be the official phone of the Olympics. If I worked for Moto and had enough money I could make the damn RAZR the official phone of the Olympics.

And yes, it is bad. And it's going to be embarrassing for Samsung when all the athletes are taking pictures with their iPhones as they walk around during the Opening Ceremonies.

Waste of money by Samsung.

Agreed, waste of money. Anything Olympics related is a waste in my opinion.

Will we ever see the Samsung Omnia Pro with the slide-out keyboard released in the US? The rest of the world has had it for months!
