Samsung Pivot a possible Epix replacement

Samsung Pivot

Here's another bit from the monstrous, ongoing AT&T leak. This time it's the Samsung Pivot, a 2.6-inch touchscreen phone with quad-band EDGE and tri-band 3G. WiFi b/g is included, along with Bluetooth 2.1, a 1700mAh battery, AGPS and 3MP camera.

While we'll buy the 4 gigabytes of storage memory, 2GB of RAM seems a little suspect. We've been seeing plenty of discrepancies in these slides, so take everything with a grain of salt.

We're inclined to agree with Engadget, which opines that the Pivot could be in line to replace the Samsung Epix (never mind the "successor of Blackjack series" line).

I doubt this is the Epix replacement because of the screen resolution. 240x320 smells like WM Standard to me. Maybe the "touch" part is wrong? If it is WM Pro, it's a step backwards from the Epix as far as I can tell. Doesn't make much sense to release a weaker version than the original, right?

with the i637 'jack' just released, and the epix from november 2008, i think it's more likely the pivot would be an epix replacement.

I can explain the 4Gb ROM and 2Gb RAM. They're likeing referring to Gigabits, rather than Gigabytes. 8 bits = 1 byte. So, 4Gb ROM = 512MB. 2Gb RAM = 256MB.

However, two things stick out at me. First, the 320x240 screen screams WM standard. Secondly, it says WM 6.1, with no mention of a possible upgrade to 6.5. The recently released Jack (the real Blackjack 3) has WM 6.1 standard, and has been stated in every press release that it will be upgradeable to WM 6.5.

I don't know where this fits it. I agree that it could be the Epix replacement. However, something just doesn't seem right.

Math ... makes ... head ... hurt ... And, yeah, a lot of these specs we've been seeing are a little weird.
