Silverlight on Twitter

Silverlight, Microsoft's Flash competitor, may finally be coming to Windows Mobile, at least according to a recent Twitter post. [via the:unwired]

As you can see above, "Just got word that Silverlight will be available in the next release of Windows Mobile." OK, that's not nearly the same as an official news release from Microsoft or anything, but it's certainly a glimmer of hope.

First widgets, and now eventually Silverlight? A lot of that trash talk about WM6.5 not having enough new features may soon enough one day be going by the wayside, huh, folks?

Update: As noted in our comments (thanks, guys!), the news out of MIX09 is that Silverlight missed the 6.5 window and is now targeting Windows Mobile 7. That's Twitter rumors for ya.

It was already said that they plan to do it in their "Ask the Gu" segment:

Unless I'm very much mistaken, that isn't for 6.5. I was in the same session at MIX09 when they announced that. It was meant for 7. The speaker said they missed the window for 6.5

And that definitely would make more sense. Drop us a link if you know of something more official.

In the Windows Mobile 6.5 session the speaker did say that they missed the windows to have it included.

Does anyone have link to the Windows Mobile 6.5 session? I'd like to see the video..

I highlighted where they talked about what in a very simple time line at the bottom of here: http://is.gd/o5Qm

It is not clear what was meant when they said the would get silverlight into the "next version." It could be the next Windows Mobile version (7.0) or the next Windows Mobile adaptation kit (later build of 6.5).
