T-Mobile Touch Pro 2

Bad news for you T-Mobile fans waiting patiently for the HTC Touch Pro 2. TmoNews is citing an anonymous source in saying that release has been moved from July 22 to Aug. 12. Hey, you've waited this long. What's a couple more weeks?

TMN is still going with the July 8 launch date for the Dash 3G, as well as the $170 price point (ouch!) with a two-year contract.

That said, do remember that no actual release date has been stated by T-Mobile for either phone, so anything's still possible. Hang in there, folks.

What about the TP2 for Sprint??

The TP2 for sprint has also been delayed because of a software bug. As soon as the bug is fixed Sprint will release it. I think Sprint will release the TP2 first, but can't be sure.

No. They are going to give the Pre a few more weeks. They are deciding about whether to extend the Everything plan requirement to all new smartphones such as the TP2. They also know it will overshadow the Pre.

No bug. Already passed all testing.

Are you kidding. The HTC Touch Pro 2 overshadowing Pre? The thing ways a ton and is still running WM 6.1 last review I saw. Plus Sprint is still selling the first one at $299. I like what WM can do for me but the UI is awful. I have two phones a HTC Touch and the Pre and after a couple of weeks of switching back and forth between the two, I've found that while I rely on the HTC for some doc and e-mail options, I'm turning to the Pre for everything else. WM had better pull it's head out of it's ass on the next release or when it comes time to upgrade my HTC, I'll be going Palm webOS or Google.

any word on TP2 for VZW?

I also heard this from a friend of mine that works at T-Mobile today.

They are probably hoping to work of the hype of the Naughty by Nature / Microsoft Ad Campaign for this device. I noticed that some of the rules related to their giveaway says you must be 18 by August 15 so that is probably when they start doing more with the campaign / giveaway. I do hope all carriers launch around this same date since we know they are all getting the device though the FCC.

does anyone know when we will be able to just outright purchase an unlocked one that will work on 3g bands.. im guessing around the same time carriers begin to release the phone? i dont really care about subsidizing the cost i just want it to work on us 3g

IF YOUR WITH T-MOBILE OR AT&T YOU CAN GO ON EBAY AND BUY IT NOW! but if your like me you just have to pull ur hair out and scream y the F hasnt sprint givin us a date yet!

arent these the asian ones your refering to? i think he was asking about the us 3g capable version

Will AT&T carry the TP2? If so, any rumors on the release date?

No word on release dates as of yet but here's some of what we've found out. Personally, I wouldn't complain one bit if it hit the shelves next week. The sooner the better.

but if we buy the ones off of ebay wont they be the asian ones that wont work with us 3g bands? thanks.

You are right they will be the Asian one's and won't support 3G. One thing to know which most people do not know.Sprint has the cheapest Everything Plan of the bunch.Verizon is said to have the biggest network(even though I have never had a problem with Sprint up and down the East Coast of the US) With Sprint if the signal is bad ast al it wil automatically roam on Verizons network. For those that LOVE Verizon or if it works better in their AREA,YOU can make the PHONE ALWAYS ROAM so it uses the Verizon network ALWAYS. With FREE nationwide roaming THOSE that LOVE VERZONS network will get to use VERIZON but pay the cheaper PRICE that SPRINT offers. The best of both worlds. I don't have problems and know noone else in my area that does but it is a thought for those that complain or maybe just make up stories online.

Ask yourselves why people leave Sprint in droves despite it (allegedly) being cheaper.

People are not "making up stories online." They have any number of problems with Sprint that they don't have with Verizon. Verizon is growing (with and without Altell) and Sprint is shrinking (including right now with the Pre).

With Sprint in many areas you get poor reception, surly account reps, and billing mistakes and precipitously removed discounts given for signing in the first place.

BTW your are mistaken about Verizon roaming. In my are of North Jersey you can set your Sprint phoen to roaming only and still not get up on Verizon where Verizon has great signals and Sprint has poor signals.

As far as Sprint being cheaper,it isn't really. With Verizon I have a 32% discount with work (more common on Verizon than Sprint) and half the people I know are on Verizon making calling FREE plus then I have "pick ten" allowing me to put ATT numbers in the plan so I call them for Free. That is no extra charge. Less than 20% of the peopel I know are on Sprint and there is no "free pick ten."

Sprint doesn't give you as much as Verizon when comparing plans for that reason and more and more people know it. You can't compare Apples (Verizon and ATT)and to rotten small apples (Sprint).

Not sure why the forums are so negative on Sprint - I agree their service was lacking in the past, but I have no problems with the service now. The reception has been fine, I have no problems with the customer service either. In the old days you had to wait hours on the phone to get a customer service rep - times have changed and they are very responsive and helpful. Plus I save a fortune with my corporate discount - I compared plans and Sprint was definitely the best value. As far as I am concerned, if I am happy with the service and it costs less, why would I ever want to pay more. By the way, the Palm Pre really is great - my son got one. I am only debating between the Pre and the Touch Pro 2 since I sometimes use PDA Net - but the Palm interface is so much better than any windows mobile I have seen that I may sacrifice that feature for a phone that just works better - but holding off ot decide until this new HTC phone comes out so I can do a side by side.

Sprint user here for about 5 years, love their network. they get a bad rap because of their customer service imo. How can you say sprint sucks but not verizon, YOU CAN ROAM FOR FREE ON VERIZON WITH SPRINT. the end.
