Motorola Tells Us What We Already Knew about the Q, Q9

Basically, the “announcement” doesn’t bring us anything we hadn’t already expected and will do little to help with Moto’s recent woes. The Q9h still looks pretty good to me, b *the MOTO Q 8, the GSM version of the original award-winning CDMA-based MOTO Q, as well as the flagship, lightening-fast global quad-band 3G QWERTY, MOTO Q 9, which is available in Italy this week.

Moto Q Survey / Contest

Users 34815289 Surveys 497443830880 1-978701E-020-8719555 Everything Motorola Q notes that Motorola is sponsoring a survey about the Q, the questions look to mainly be about whether or not you feel the need to pimp it out and how good a job the Q does at, uh, being pimped. There is a "general feedback" section, though, which I suspect will be filled with comments about the battery life and the creaky plastic. Or at least that's what I put in there, don't let me skew the results too much. In any case, Moto's giving away a pair of Moto HT820 Stereo Bluetooth Headphones, so it's worth your time to fill it out.

Moto Q9h Rumor Roundup

There’s been some noise over the weekend and early this week about the Motorola Q9h, so let’s take a gander. First up, AT&T should be releasing the beast in August: If you take the word of one of BGR’s top informants, then yes, the Motorola Q 9h will launch on AT&T in August.

When Thumbboards Attack!

Triangle I've been using the YAQKWMS (Yet Another Qwerty Keyboard Windows Mobile Smartphone) tag for awhile now as a sort of inside joke - well, if a joke that only *I* get counts as "inside." Anyway, the punchline to this interior humor is that these phones are pretty tough to distinguish from one another. They all share Windows Mobile 5 with few (if any) software enhancements, they all have QWERTY thumbboards and 320x240 screens. And so on. [...] Today we're going to ignore all that and focus on one aspect: thumbboards. And furthermore we're just going to focus on the big three here in the US, the ones with the most saturation in the market right now: the T-Mobile Dash, the Cingular Blackjack, and the Motorola Q (available on several networks). Read on for a thumbboard smackdown between these big three Smartphones.

Q v Dash

C|Net Asia pits the now-venerable (my, how quickly phones become “venerable” these days) against newcomer DoPod C720W/HTC Excalibur/T-Mobile Dash (my, how quickly I get tired of HTC allowing their devices to get 300 different names). Both are WM5 Smartphone Edition QWERTY slabs This new kid on the block is throwing up some big claims, with its own slim design, productivity tools, and wireless options.
