Some bits about the Omni rumors that hit over yesterday’s holiday - 1) I used to think that artistic renderings of this sort were basically unreliable, but I’ve come around and so I think we’re going to see a device that looks very much like this image. 2) It’s going to be super small for what is going to be built-in.

We saw the spy shot of the new Palm Gandolf and I suspected that they wouldn't call it a Treo since it wouldn't have a touchscreen. Shows what I know. Now specs for the device have been leaked and they look pretty darn plausible to me:

Pictured at right, the PalmOS Treo 755p on Sprint. Shuffle some branding and, er, the *Operating System* and I strongly suspect you'll be looking at the new Treo 800w on Verizon. Palm has long said that they want to standardize their hardware so they don't have to keep redesigning products so they can put PalmOS or WM on it. The rumored 800w looks to be the fruits of that standardization.
Or so I think, being relatively steeped in Palm lore. So, going with the same assumption that the 800w will share the same hardware as the 755p (much in the same way that the 700w and the 700p are nearly identical), we should expect this new Verizon 800w to have:
- 320x320 resolution touchscreen (joy!)
- Antenna-less design
- EVDO, but likely not Rev A (boo!)
- A decent 312mhz processor
An unnamed source on HowardForums has posted what is supposedly a timetable of upcoming releases for Verizon. This lists a previously unknown device, the Palm Treo 800w.If this information is correct, this model will launch on September 13, after having been moved back from August 27.

It looks like a little slip-up with Palm’s Press Release RSS Feed let the news slip a little early - the mystery product that Palm’s been hard at work at is a “thin client” of a sort - a device that hooks up to your smartphone and act like a mini-laptop. I’ll be putting up more details at our sister site According to a RSS news feed from Palm, their mystery "3rd category" device is a compact smartphone companion product named Foleo that lets you view and edit emails using a large screen and fullsize keyboard Read: treocentral.com >> Stories >> Hardware >> Palm’s Foleo a “smartphone companion product”?

I don’t know ex […] that beefy Windows Mobile PPC Phone Edition device is now rumored to be running on a 624MHz Intel Bulverde processor pumping away beneath a 5-inch, 262k-color VGA (640x480) touch-sensitive display. It’s overall thickness is in part explained by the fact that it spins either an 8 or 10GB disk drive while a 2100mAh Li-Poly battery provides up to 6 hours of talk, 300 hours of standby, or 8 hours of WMV video playback.

Other than that, it’s pretty much the high-quality PPC GSM phone we’ve come to expect from HTC: WiFi, GSM Quad-band, MicroSD, et The HTC Vox concept photo has been floating around the net for a little while so I thought it was my turn to step things up a bit. I present the first live picture of the HTC Vox (S710) smartphone with complete spec sheet.

Slashphone points us to the HTC Vox, perhaps one of the first phones that’ll be sporting Crossbow. For now, let’s pass over the fact that we’re discussing what appears to be little more than a CAD mockup The HTC Vox might use the newer Windows Mobile OS - the Crossbow.
