How To: Secure the WM Devices on Your Network

That’s all well and good, but there are security issues to consid What is required is that you find and talk to your users and show them that they are allowed to benefit from the corporate infrastructure as long as they play by the rules, luring them into your security policy.... When you do that, you can remove the devices from the grey area of tolerance, and get those devices into the controlled area of the IT department since they might not be your responsibility, but they still are your management’s security concern.

Hacker Proof-of-Concept: T-Mobile MDA as "Evil Twin" Network

A great article was posted on Friday over at c|net, describing how “Carl Banzhof, VP and chief technology evangelist for McAfee, outlined a scenario in which mobile phones—not laptops—could be used to sniff wireless packets”. The upshot is that he took a T-Mobile MDA and made it look like a WiFi access point - i.e. showing how a malicious smartphone user could “trick” you into logging onto the internet via the MDA, thereby exposing all of your communications to packet sniffing.

Company find Security Flaws in WM5

Stop the presses: A Microsoft software product has been found to have security flaws. Ok, cheap shot. And really, WM5 hasn't, to my knowledge, had any sort of catastrophic attack on it yet. Even this is just a report of a threat, not an actual attack (a report of a threat, one should note, from a company that wants to sell you software to protect you). Still, MS is on the case and, really, it should just be a matter of time before we really have to starting thinking about malware on our smartphones.
