Garmin-Asus nüvifone G60

At long last, the Garmin-Asus nüvifone G60 has been officially announced on AT&T and will be available Oct. 4 — that's this Sunday. Price is as we've previously reported: $299 after contract and rebate. Of course, this is a Garmin venture we're talking about here, so navigation is the centerpiece of the phone. Nuvifone Premium Connected Services will be offered for a 30-day trial, and then $5.99 a month after that.

Full presser after the break.

Update: Er, see, this is what happens when you write with one eye open. Berrydale in our comments correctly points out that this is the nuvifone that, erm, doesn't run Windows Mobile. We're still waiting on the M20.

Possible pricing for AT&T Touch Pro 2, Touch Diamond 2 and Nüvifone G60

AT&T Touch Pro 2 and Touch Diamond 2

The AT&T news keeps on a'comin' this weekend. After getting an idea of when the HTC Touch Pro 2 (aka Tilt 2) may be released, and then seeing it show up in inventory, the Boy Genius Report now says it has pricing information for it, as well as a couple of other anticiapted phones. Let's do this the easy way:

  • Tilt 2: $299 after contract and $50 rebate; $499 retail.
  • Touch Diamond 2: Codenamed the Warhawk and already seen at the FCC, will be known as the Pure and will go for $199 after contract and $40 rebate. Retails for $349. Update: BGR's updated and it now appears that the Diamond 2, er, Pure will go for $149.99 after contract and $50 rebate. (See the pic here.) The retail price still stands (and is pretty darn good).
  • Garmin-Asus Nüvifone G60: It lives! And it'll cost $299.99 after contract and $100 rebate. Will retail for $549.99.

No word on release dates for the later two phones, but remember that we're expecting the Tilt 2 in about a month.

(And remember, folks, the above picture is just an early render of the Touch Pro 2 and Touch Diamond 2 on AT&T. We're actually expecting the Tilt 2 to look like this.)

Garmin Nüvifone G60 delayed

Earlier this year we reported on the Garmin Nüvifone G60, a collaboration between GPS giant Garmin and Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Asus. The G60 was first announced back in January of 2008 and slated for a third-quarter 2008 launch that would eventually be delayed until June of 2009. It now looks as if that delay wasn't the last one for the G60.

Engadget Mobile is reporting that the G60 has been delayed once again with an anticipated release sometime during the third quarter of 2009. The company is citing hardware/software complexities as the reason behind the pushed back release date.

The G60 was first thought to be a Windows Mobile phone but development has since gone the direction of Linux OS.  The Garmin M20 is a Windows Mobile based phone and is still slated for a Summer '09 release.
