According to Engadget, LG stated at CES press event that Windows Mobile 7 will be on devices this year. Obviously this still isn’t an official announcement from Microsoft, but LG is one of their bigger partners for Windows Phones. Might we hear something official from Steve Ballmer at his CES Keynote tonight? Rumor has it that Robbie Bach, Microsoft’s President of Entertainment & Devices Division, will be joining Steve on stage.

Tune in at 9:30pm Eastern, 6:30pm Pacific for our liveblog from the event.

Robbie Bach's Windows Mobile open house keynote

For those of you who didn't join us Tuesday for the liveblog from Microsoft's launch of Windows Mobile 6.5, here's Robbie Bach's keynote, in its entirety.

Microsoft's Robbie Bach live at CTIA

Posted on Thursday, Apr 2, 2009 by Phil Nickinson

Come one, come all as we join Microsoft's Robbie Bach, president of the Entertainment & Devices Division, who will "discuss his thought-provoking response to the question, 'What does "Mobile Life" mean to you?' " Other than that? We've got no idea what's in store.

So check in after the break for a live stream (fair warning, you're going to need Silverlight) of Bach's talk, and tune your favorite twitter client to @wmexperts as our own Dieter Bohn liveTweets the event.

(Note: Microsoft's saying 10 a.m. Pacific, CTIA and Dieter are saying 9 a.m. Pacific - likely it's the case that 10 Pacific is when Bach will take the stage). In any case, you should be glued to WMExperts regardless!)

Update: Miss it live? It's all after the break in its embedded glory, along with Dieter's tweeted thoughts.

Robbie Bach: Windows Mobile to be Better for Consumers, Iconic.

Robbie Bach

Venture Beat sat in with an interview between Robbie Bach and a small group of reporters recently. Bach's comments on Windows Mobile are a good example of what Microsoft's message for the platform is these days: 20 million of them, strong in enterprise, Google's got no business plan, iPhone has one form factor, we have hundreds, etc. The best news is that Microsoft really does plan on bringing out consumer services that are more integrated and easier to use:

That’s why we bought [mobile internet platform company] Danger. That’s why we are getting Hotmail on mobile and those sorts of things. We have a great relationship with operators around the world. The part we have to do a better job of is make sure more of the phones that ship will be iconic phones.

When you go and read the interview, you have to take a shot every time Bach says "Iconic." When you do, we can't be held responsible for the costs related to the inevitable alcohol poisoning and stomach pump fees.
