Oh, hi, Toshiba TG02. It's been a while. When last we met, you were getting WiFi certification. Now you're in the good graces of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, and there's a good chance we'll see you in person in a couple weeks at Mobile World Congress.

So what, exactly, might we see? From the FCC documents, we know the usual radio stuff is there -- Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi b/g -- plus quad-band GSM frequencies (but no 3G for the U.S.). Other than that? We'd expect it to appear with Windows Mobile 6.5.x (or 6.5.3, or 6.6, or 6.7, or whatever it ends up being called). Previous leaked specs showed a 4.1-inch WVGA screen, 3.2MP camera and the aforementioned version of WinMo. Also previously mentioned in big red letters was the word "Waterproof," which could provide an interesting twist. Stand by. [FCC via Engadget]

We're really not fans of seeing "official" sources break news on Twitter, but so be it. Here you see a translation of a Tweet from @HTC_Ru, HTC's Russian Twitter account. And it clearly says that of the Windows phones currently available, only the HD2 is slated to get an upgrade to Windows Mobile 7. That's something we've been quietly expecting for a while now, especially given the supposed WM7 chassis specs. The HD2 has the 1GHz Snapdragon processor. It's got a capacitive screen. And it's hulking size means I wouldn't want to tell it it'd be stuck with Windows Mobile 6.5 forever.

As for other devices getting an upgrade to Windows Mobile 7? We'll go ahead and say that the bunch we saw recently in that HTC leak are a pretty good bet, assuming they're not actually launched with Windows Mobile 7.

Acer is continuing to make a push to be one of the more prolific manufacturers of Windows Phones. According to a report from Digitimes, Acer is preparing three or four Windows Mobile phones for release in 2010. Apparently some of these devices will be low end devices with development outsourced to Inventec Appliances. Acer will continue in-house development of their higher-end models (the word Snapdragon was mentioned).

In a less encouraging note for Windows Mobile purists, Acer plans include more emphasis on Google’s Android platform, with 5 or 6 devices being targeted.

Telus sure has an odd pricing scheme, at least for those of us used to two-year deals in the U.S. But hey they did get their hands on the LG IQ and if you sign a whopping three-year contract it can be yours for a low $99.

Only want to do two years?  That will cost you an extra $300:

• 3-year contract: $99.99
• 2-year contract: $399.99
• 1-year contract: $449.99
• No contract: $499.99

But hey, that IQ sure is a nice phone and we have to admit, we'd like to get our grubby mitts on it.  Featuring WM6.5, 1gHz processor and a 5MP camera, it's pretty swell.  Luckily AT&T has the eXpo coming very soon, once their shipping issues are straightened out.

Remember that LG IQ we've seen destined for Canada's Telus network? It's also headed for AT&T and should be available Dec. 7 with its sliding keyboard, 5-megapixel camera, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Windows Mobile 6.5 and 1500mAh battery. The eXpo also can handle an optional (and removable) DLP pico projector from Texas Instruments, making it one of the first in the U.S. to sport such a feature. [Phonescoop]

We're gonna have to go way, way back for this one. In the Great AT&T Flood of 2009 came a leaked slide of the LG Monaco, a Snapdragon-powered, 3.2-inch touchscreen slider. And here before you is what that device, now known as the LG IQ, has become, destined for Canadian carrier Telus.

Gone is that janky-looking D-pad from the keyboard, and instead it features an optical mouse on the front face. Also on board are a 5-megapixel and Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro.

Question is, will we still see this on AT&T, as previously rumored? And will it launch (or at least be upgradeable to) Windows Mobile 7, if and when it arrives, as previously rumored?

Here's the Toshiba Dynapocket X02T from Japan's Softbank. If it looks familiar, it should. It's really just a rebranded Toshiba TG01. But what's new this time is that Softbank has U.S. filmmaker Quentin Tarantino (perhaps you've heard of him) shilling for it, and it's definitely entertaining. The good: Wow. What a device. If there was one phone that blew me away it would be the massive TG01.  The combination of a huge 4.1-inch screen and 1GHz Snapdragon was an experience to witness.

When Windows Mobile 6.5 hits 1GHz it becomes something different.  It is so fluid, fast and quick to the touch it changes the game.  And that screen was just this big, bold, beautiful source of visual goodness--I was like a moth staring at the spotlight.

It was a little strange surrendering all hardware buttons--even the Phone/Send and End keys are part of the screen, but all in all it works just because it is so huge.  Now I see why HTC made the HD2, they must have played with TG01. Man if this phone had a capacitive screen, it would be the Zune phone that everyone wants.

The bad: Well for one, there is no promise of this thing coming to the States, so this may have been my only chance.  Number two, the soft keyboard was awful.  Perhaps the screen sensitivity could be tweaked or there are other versions to be made, but I literally missed every other letter when typing.  Maybe they can license HTC's fantastic soft keyboard.  Finally, there is no 3.5mm headset jack.

The HTC HD2, aka the Leo, has been one of the worst-kept secrets out there, and HTC pulled the covers off it this morning. Unfortunately we're not looking at a U.S. release, so we'll have to gaze at the massive 4.3-inch screen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor and honest-to-goodness Sense UI, as first seen on Android, from afar.

The HD2 will be available "later this month across Europe."

And you thought the HTC HD2 was big? Hows about Windows Mobile 6.5 on a 7-inch LCD display, powered by the same Snapdragon processor? OK, so this is a tablet dubbed "Mangrove" and not a Windows phone, technically speaking, but it does sport 3G and WiMAX, WiFi, USB ports and a MicroSD card slot.

Next question: Considering what it would likely cost, what the heck would you do with it?
