AT&T Tilt 2 and Pure get hotfixes

Posted on Saturday, Dec 19, 2009 by George Ponder

We've stumbled across two hotfixes for the AT&T Tilt 2 and Pure. The first fix addresses inconsistent caller id functions and the second where the Windows phone freezes in the SMS application.

Both fixes are not ROM updates and will not cause you to lose your data. HTC notes that these fixes will survive a hard reset and will only need to be installed once. Do note that the fixes might not load if you're running a custom ROM. Stock AT&T only, it looks like.

The fixes for the Tilt 2 can be found here and for the Pure here. It appears that these issues are present only in the AT&T models so Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile users need not worry.

HTC releases official Windows Mobile 6.5 updates for the Touch Diamond 2

Windows Mobile 6.5 for Touch Diamond 2

We've already seen the leak of an official release of Windows Mobile 6.5 for the HTC Touch Diamond 2. Now HTC has released the ROM itself, with the following versions for the following regions:

  • Germany: 2.16.407.1
  • Denmark: 2.16.403.1
  • United Kingdom: 2.16.405.4
  • Sweden: 2.16.413.1
  • Norway: 2.16.409.1
  • Portugal: 2.16.410.1

The usual reminder that these are full-on ROM upgrades, and so you need to back up your data elsewhere first. Otherwise, go get it here.

Official WM6.5 Leaked for Touch Diamond 2 (Topaz)

Posted on Monday, Oct 26, 2009 by Malatesta

While we AT&T Pure users here in the States enjoy our spanking new Windows Mobile 6.5, the unlocked Touch Diamond 2 released months ago is still awaiting the official upgrade from HTC. Gasp!

The date for the upgrade keeps coming and going, but it looks like Froidstar at XDA has gotten his/her hands on the official version, unofficially, of course.

It's an older build (2.07.58475) from July, which is evidently what HTC will be releasing to the masses. Hands-on reports are that it is very stable and fast so far.

So if you haven't rocked a custom WM6.5 update already (hard to believe) then you may want to give this a shot, or perhaps you "Chefs" need a new stable base to work from?

AT&T Pure on Amazon

Thinking about buying an AT&T Pure? (Read our review here.) Look no further than Amazon, which is offering the variant of the HTC Touch Diamond 2 for a penny. That's 1 cent. OK, so you have to open a new plan with AT&T. But if you were going to do that anyway ... Click here for the deal. [via Gear Diary]

AT&T Pure on sale now for $149.99

The rumors were true. Despite Tuesday being the official Oct. 6 Super Duper Windows Mobile 6.5 launch day, the AT&T Pure is on sale right now, in stores, for the low, low price of $149.99 after two-year contract and rebate. [via Tilt Mobility] And Windows Mobile 6.5 is already on board the variant of the HTC Touch Pro 2.

AT&T PureWe sneaked over to our closest store, and there it was. We're obviously not going to do a full-on review while the device is shackled to the AT&T store, but a quick run-through had the UI running fairly smooth, including TouchFLO 3D. Opera Mobile 9.5 was on board, and the WinMo 6.5 build definitely was not one of the newer ones we've seen floating around.

AT&T Pure doesn't have 3.5mm headphone jack

AT&T Pure

Sorry, folks. Those of you holding out hope that the AT&T Pure would have a 3.5mm headphone jack appear to be out of luck. At least that's the case for the one spied early by Tilt Mobility.

Other news: Windows mobile 6.5 is on board, talk time is rated at 5 hours, with 15 days of standby. It's running TouchFLO 3D 2.1 out of the box.

AT&T Pure is real, live and in the flesh

Well, guess that settles that. Somebody around here was questioning whether the AT&T Pure was indeed legit, and lo and behold, here it is, seen in an AT&T store, no less. Does that mean it's destined for the Oct. 6 Super Duper Windows Mobile 6.5 launch day? Dunno for sure. But we'll definitely find out in a few days.

Another sign of the Tilt 2 and Pure on AT&T

Despite not being officially announced by AT&T yet, plans already are in place should the unthinkable happen to your newly purchased Tilt 2 or Pure. The upcoming branded versions of the HTC Touch Pro 2 and Touch Diamond 2, respectively, have appeared on an AT&T insurance deductible schedule. And there's no reason to cover a phone that you're not even going to carry, so ...

Might this be the AT&T Pure?

HTC PureHTC Pure

We assume that somewhere under these cases is the Windows phone known as the HTC Pure — it's just a little tough when your retinas are burning.

Anyhoo, the pics we're looking at here from HTCpedia purportedly show the variant of the HTC Touch Diamond 2 (aka the Warhawk) that we're expecting on AT&T ... eventually. It's more than a little odd to see initial images of a phone while it's case-clad, but stranger things have happened. There's not much to be gleaned other than the 5.0-megapixel camera (which we've been expecting), the usual zoom bar and four-button combo, and a stylus. The $149.99 price (after rebate and contract) is still in effect.

How about it, folks? This tickling your fancy?

Possible pricing for AT&T Touch Pro 2, Touch Diamond 2 and Nüvifone G60

AT&T Touch Pro 2 and Touch Diamond 2

The AT&T news keeps on a'comin' this weekend. After getting an idea of when the HTC Touch Pro 2 (aka Tilt 2) may be released, and then seeing it show up in inventory, the Boy Genius Report now says it has pricing information for it, as well as a couple of other anticiapted phones. Let's do this the easy way:

  • Tilt 2: $299 after contract and $50 rebate; $499 retail.
  • Touch Diamond 2: Codenamed the Warhawk and already seen at the FCC, will be known as the Pure and will go for $199 after contract and $40 rebate. Retails for $349. Update: BGR's updated and it now appears that the Diamond 2, er, Pure will go for $149.99 after contract and $50 rebate. (See the pic here.) The retail price still stands (and is pretty darn good).
  • Garmin-Asus Nüvifone G60: It lives! And it'll cost $299.99 after contract and $100 rebate. Will retail for $549.99.

No word on release dates for the later two phones, but remember that we're expecting the Tilt 2 in about a month.

(And remember, folks, the above picture is just an early render of the Touch Pro 2 and Touch Diamond 2 on AT&T. We're actually expecting the Tilt 2 to look like this.)
