Verizon Quietly EOLs Treo 700wx; Treo 800w Release Oct. 12th?

Thanks to some eagle-eyed (and tenacious!) forum members, it looks like Verizon has slapped a big ol' "While Supplies Last!" badge on the venerable Palm Treo 700wx (as if the exclamation mark is really necessary).

Usually that's a good sign that the device's run is coming to a quiet end.

Coincidentally, forum member Scott who has been relentlessly hounding Verizon on the status of the Treo 800w, has nailed those guys down to a specific date for release: October 12th.

Good to hear that there is a possible date set for the release, I'll be looking forward to comparing the Treo 800w with the Samsung i770 to see which is the better out of the two once both are released.

I'd be very surprised if the 800w was released on Verizon prior to November. (I hope I am eating those words of course).

What I dont understand is on BGR they have the sneek peak at the Verizon data sheets of when the employees have to have training completed by so they can support the product (The new Blackberry storm and the other phone). How come we never saw any of these for the 800w for Verizon? I still have my fingers crossed on the Oct. 12th release date.

On another note, is it typical for Verizon to release a phone on a Sunday? That just seems weird to me.

Could be that the training dates for the Treo 800w have already passed and that it is due out soon?
