And the leaks keep coming...

For those who are staying abreast of all the recent WM6.5.x builds, 28004 just hit the streets today.  No major changes are evident, though there are some graphic and speed improvements as usual.

WM6.5.3 is the latest branch off from the various "COM" builds, which look to be the testing grounds for new improvements to Windows Mobile.  The main feature of these latest builds appear to be making the OS very finger friendly, incorporating gesture support, moving the Start menu to the lower left corner, enlarging all menus and redoing certain sub-sections like the address book (see above).

What no one knows as of yet is what is the end goal? I.e. what will this final branch look like, what is the expected finish date, etc?  Build 28004 is from November 19th, meaning it features some of the latest changes.  By comparison to WM6.5, these latest builds of 6.5.x are as fast if not faster, feel more modern and are quite stable.

Look for your favorite chef's to update their ROMs.

For those on Sprint with Touch Pro 2's, feel free to try my custom build of this ROM along with HTC Sense 2.1 (weather-clock), Office 2010, Opera 10 and some graphics improvements.  Get it here or directly download here and thanks to SSK for the kitchen.

Are u kiding about the stability rigth i got a lot of crashes and black screen whit 28xxx

Well, could be your build/kitchen or other factors. I've been running 28002 since it came out and 28004 all day today and it's been very solid. Occasional graphics-draw failure in Settings --> Screen --> Align, but other than that it's been very steady for me.

Lots of chefs are also happy with the 28xx series in terms of performance and stability. I recommend a 24MB PagePool with the WM6.5.x too.

Chef Mal.

I think it depends on the cooker, everything works perfect here. And most important it's very smooth and fast.

Hey Malatesta, How about posting that where we can get it without having to give up our personal information for future spam please?

Try Megaupload or Rapidshare thru that link...no registration or info you have to give up. Sorry, I don't have my own servers to host :-/ Not sure where else to put a nearly 200MB file.
Ok, WisdomWolfX has volunteered to kindly host the file directly: https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D84107_779162_23985

I also had problems with the 28xxx build. When I would try and send a text, the send button would turn into a reply button midsentence, erasing my message when I try to send. Also, any program that uses the default WinMo API to display text ("speeed reader", "remotetracker" config, ect) resulted oversized, unreadable text.

Back to the 21xxx builds of 6.5 for me!

What about winmo standard version?

Great question: I have not seen any WM6.5.x builds for Standard leak out. I think b/c this project of MS is concentrating on making the OS more finger-friendly as opposed to adding really any new features, Standard is less of an issue.

Hello people, someone can teach me how to install this rom? I would like to test, I have the Omnia i900 and have installed the Khuanchai roms.
thank you very much
kani

Sorry kanikamus, there are 2 different things going on here:

one is the source files--those you need to get from XDA, download, extract, sort by resolution, import to Kitchen, compile and flash. If you didn't understand most of that, then this is not for you ;-)

number two is my ROM linked--I did what is in number one for others to use to try out, but it is only for the Sprint (CDMA) Touch Pro 2

Basically you'll have find your favorite chef and ask them if they can support 28004 and await for them to build your a ROM.

Anyway thank you, I was installing the roms Khuanchai, but he finally stopped, we are now installing "PDAMOBIZ," but it is not lite, comes with Titanium I do not like because I use the SPB Mobile Shell 3.5. I would like to learn to make roms
Thanks
kani

@GuSo that's what you get for doing something you do not know what to do. Please this is for experience people not for amateurs computer literate LOL...

Now you know difference why people are so gaulible to try anything....

Well, I for one am now loving the 28004 build. I had some problems with the ROMs I tried, so after a couple pokes on Twitter .... I rolled my own off SSK. Everything works splendidly on my Telus TP2 -- from the soft keyboard, to the multimedia to the GPS.

I *really* like the touch-via-finger enhancements in this particular build. Particularly like that the "Dismiss" button when a data connection fails is nice and big. The old one (6.5.0) was hard to hit with a stylus nevermind a fingertip.

I've been using the Valkyrie builds of 28002 and 28004 on my tp2 and found them to be extremely stable and fast.

I have the xperia x1 and i tried this rom

the normal touch it 10.1 wm6.1 works wayyyy better.

i never really had and problem with 6.1, the 6.5 versions run much slower and take up way more ram.

my xperia runs very very fast on 6.1

If your ROM of WM6.5 is taking up "way more RAM" you should find a new Chef. I've run official builds/devices with WM6.5 and unofficial ones and WM6.5 is within 4MB of RAM usage as WM6.1.

So your chef is either optimizing memory different (e.g. allocating more for glyphcache), has a larger PagePool, etc, which would be done for more speed.

You really have to build a "minimal pair" ROM of WM6.1/6.5 to fairly compare the two--many never go that far and the result is too many confounds to make an adequate judgment.

Hmmm...

While insignificant WM builds might be a passing interest to those few that have devices that still run the naked OS, what about coverage of HTC's Sense or Samsung's TouchWiz? There's certainly enough quirks in the HD2's that coverage of what HTC is doing to provide an upgrade would certainly be of interest.

I like my chef to cook medium-rare, but not well-dooooone!

Hmm what about HTC Touch Pro 1, could I use this?

Sounds good.
