WinMo 6.5 still supports up to 16GB of external memory

This shouldn't really come as a surprise to anyone, given that Windows Mobile 6.5 is built from the same blocks as its predecessors, but Microsoft's Loke Uei confirms that the upcoming operating system won't support any more memory than what it already does.

SD cards still top out at 16 gigabytes, he said on the Mobility Today podcast. But, jeez, folks, just how much pr0n movies and music do you need to carry around with you?

this is pretty stupid IMO...if you have a microSD start that supports a theoretical 32GB, why not actually have a platform that supports that whenever some company manages to make that super dense mem card.I for one will be the first to tell you that a 32GB card would be a must by for me. too many times i hear the same music on my phone when i'm on shuffle...

I think it's too early to call it stupid. To the best of my knowledge there are no micro SDHC cards available with more than 16 gigs. That being said it is currently impossible to confirm that various OEMs have hardware that is compatible with 32 gig cards.

I think it is stupid. What it conveys is that 6.5 will be very quickly obsolete.

hmmm... Didn't a guy over at XDA graph at 32GB compact flash card into his Touch Pro?

Wouldn't that suggest is work?

Yup:

Yeah. 16 just doesn't sound right to me. I've e-mailed Loke Uei for clarification.

dude 32gb SDHC works!!
confirmed by XDA
maybe u should send a link to microsoft to the thread at XDA

haha, microsoft is always a day late and a buck short. :D
I think xda-developers should get together and start their own phone company. it would rule them all. :D

I *thought* I heard Loke say up to 32Gb ???
